Based on the 2024 report from Statista and Statistics South Africa, men in Africa continue to live shorter lives than women, a reality shaped by greater exposure to risks like hazardous work, violence, and unhealthy behaviors (Statista, 2024; WHO, 2023). The reluctance to seek timely medical care also contributes to this alarming gap. This calls for urgent action to prioritize men’s health and create a culture that encourages them to take preventative measures (UNDP, 2023).

In 2020, 5.6% of Africa’s population, about 74.4 million people, were aged 60 or older. By 2050, this number is expected to triple to 235.1 million, making up nearly 10% of the total population. While the overall dependency ratio will drop from 81.2 in 2010 to 61.5 in 2050, the share of older dependents will increase significantly.

Africa’s aging population aligns with global trends as the world’s population is set to peak at 10.3 billion by the 2080s. These shifts call for policies to support healthcare, social services, and economic security for the growing elderly population.

Netflix denied the claim that it was exiting the Nigerian market. The rumor began after Kunle Afolayan, a Nigerian actor and filmmaker, mentioned at a film festival that Netflix had reduced its funding for Nigerian movies. However, Afolayan later clarified in an interview with Channels Television that his statement had been taken out of context. Social media users also attempted to correct the misinformation, confirming that Netflix would remain in Nigeria. Additionally, Africa Check found no announcement on Netflix Nigeria’s X account about leaving the country. Instead, Netflix humorously debunked the claim, reaffirming its presence in Nigeria.

Several African countries have made significant strides in space exploration, focusing on satellite technology, research, and policy development. South Africa is a leader in the field, launching its first satellite, Sunsat-1, in 1999 and establishing the South African National Space Agency (SANSA) in 2010. The country plays a major role in international projects like the MeerKAT radio telescope and the Square Kilometer Array (SKA), the world’s largest radio telescope. Nigeria has also advanced its space capabilities, launching its first satellite, NigeriaSat-1, in 2003 under the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA). Nigeria’s satellite program includes NigeriaSat-2, NigeriaSat-X, and NigComSat-1R, designed for communication, agriculture, and disaster monitoring. Egypt stands out as the first African country to engage in space exploration, launching satellites for communication and scientific research.

In South African churches, processions are integral to worship, symbolizing the congregation's spiritual journey and unity. These processions often feature rhythmic movements, singing, and dancing, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the region.

One notable example is the hymn "Siyahamba," which translates to "We Are Marching" in Zulu. This song is commonly performed during processions, embodying the act of moving forward in faith.

The choreography in these processions may include synchronized steps, swaying, and other coordinated movements, creating a sense of flow and communal participation. Such practices are deeply rooted in African traditions and have been incorporated into Christian worship, enriching the spiritual experience.

These processions serve not only as expressions of faith but also as manifestations of cultural identity, blending traditional African elements with Christian rituals to create a unique and vibrant form of worship.

Yankari Warm Spring, located in the heart of Yankari National Park in Bauchi State, Nigeria, is a remarkable natural attraction and a must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts and travelers seeking a serene escape.

The spring is fed by underground geothermal activity, which ensures its warmth and purity, and it flows into the nearby Gaji River, adding to the ecological richness of the park. The warm spring is not only a scenic retreat but also an essential water source for the park's diverse wildlife, which includes elephants, baboons, and various bird species.

Yankari National Park itself is one of Nigeria's most famous wildlife reserves, covering over 2,200 square kilometers of savannah and woodland. Visitors to the park can combine their experience at the warm spring with wildlife safaris, birdwatching, and exploring ancient cultural sites such as the Dukkey Wells, believed to have been used by early settlers in the region.
