FROM THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT
NIGERIAN YOUTH FOR BAT (NYFB)

The leadership displayed by His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, at the launch of the book of former President, the late Muhammadu Buhari, at the Presidential Villa is highly commendable.

The occasion underscores a deep commitment to preserving Nigeria’s history and honoring the service and legacy of past leaders. The presence of the former First Lady, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, alongside senior government officials, further reflected the national importance of the event.

Speaking from the office of the President of Nigerian Youth for BAT, Abdulazeez Hassan Abba, this gesture represents continuity, respect for democratic institutions, and responsible leadership. It sends a strong message to Nigerian youths on the values of service, unity, and national responsibility.

May the soul of the late President Muhammadu Buhari rest in peace, and may Nigeria continue to advance under visionary and inclusive leadership.

Today, the delegation of the Nigerian Youth for BAT (NYFB), under the compassionate leadership of the National President, Abdulazeez Hassan Abba, paid a humanitarian visit to Makera Village in Zaria.

The purpose of the visit was to check on Lawal, a young boy who has been battling a serious illness that left him unable to walk for the past four years. His story touched the heart of the National President, who immediately directed the NYFB delegation to visit the family and assess his situation.

Upon arrival, the delegation met with Lawal’s parents, who shared the emotional and difficult journey their son has faced since falling ill. The team listened attentively, offered words of encouragement, and reassured the family that they were not alone in their struggle.

Following the directive of the National President, the delegation was instructed to immediately transfer Lawal to the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in Kaduna for urgent medical attention. The National President, Abdulazeez Hassan Abba, personally assured the family that he would do everything within his power to ensure that Lawal receives the best possible care.

He expressed his deep concern and heartfelt sympathy for Lawal’s condition, promising that NYFB will stand by the family throughout his recovery process. He added that the organization believes every young Nigerian deserves the opportunity to live a healthy life, pursue education, and contribute positively to society.

The visit brought hope and relief to Lawal’s parents, who expressed their gratitude to the Nigerian Youth for BAT and its leadership for their compassion, kindness, and timely intervention.

The National President further reaffirmed NYFB’s commitment to promoting humanitarian values, unity, and compassion among Nigerian youths, emphasizing that true leadership is reflected not only in words but in genuine actions that touch lives and restore hope.

Help us spread the word and support Shamsuddeen Abdullahi, a resilient young man with unique abilities and special needs from Zaria. Despite societal challenges, he initiated a movement in his community to empower children with similar needs.

Shamsuddeen, driven by strength, belief, passion, and ambition, dreamt of becoming a professor. He earned a scholarship from Kaduna state for an MSc in the UK. However, his journey has been marred by bureaucratic failures and fraud.

Stranded in the UK without promised support, Shamsuddeen faces eviction and uncertainty about his future. Despite efforts by the new ES of the scholarship board, a company named "Proactive" mismanaged funds, causing further complications.

We urge the Kaduna State Government to intervene, arrest the company representative, and ensure Shamsuddeen's tuition fees are paid. Let's prevent his return without an MSc after three years in the UK. Consider joining our Go-Fund to support his educational pursuit and uphold his dream of becoming a professor.

Stay tuned for a live virtual chat with Shamsuddeen tomorrow. Share widely to raise awareness and help save Shamsuddeen's academic journey. 😢

Justice is a complex concept, encompassing fairness, equity, and the application of laws to ensure that individuals receive what they deserve. It involves a balance between upholding rights and punishing wrongdoing. The pursuit of justice is fundamental to societal harmony and the rule of law. Different cultures and legal systems may interpret and implement justice in various ways, but the overarching goal is to create a just and equitable society.

The Imperative of Free Bail in Nigeria: A Call for Justice and Fairness

In Nigeria, the concept of free bail stands as a pivotal element in the pursuit of justice and the upholding of fundamental human rights. Recognizing the importance of this practice is paramount in fostering a legal system that is fair, equitable, and in alignment with democratic principles.

The provision of free bail serves as a cornerstone in ensuring that individuals, often presumed innocent until proven guilty, are not unduly burdened by financial constraints while awaiting trial. This practice underscores the principle that justice should not be contingent on one's ability to pay, fostering a society where legal proceedings are impartial and accessible to all.

In a country where socio-economic disparities are prevalent, the waiver of bail fees becomes a crucial mechanism for preventing the undue criminalization of poverty. It acts as a safeguard against the unjust detention of individuals solely due to their inability to afford bail, thus preventing the erosion of their constitutional rights.

Moreover, the implementation of free bail aligns with international human rights standards and treaties that Nigeria is a signatory to. It reflects the commitment to uphold the dignity and rights of every citizen, irrespective of their financial standing, and reinforces Nigeria's dedication to the rule of law on a global scale.

While ensuring the availability of free bail is vital, it is equally important to address systemic issues within the legal system that may contribute to prolonged pre-trial detentions. By streamlining legal procedures, improving the efficiency of the judiciary, and enhancing access to legal representation, Nigeria can further fortify its commitment to a fair and expeditious legal process.

In essence, advocating for and implementing policies that support free bail in Nigeria is not merely a legal matter but a demonstration of the nation's dedication to justice, human rights, and the principles of a thriving democracy. By embracing this imperative, Nigeria takes a significant stride towards building a legal framework that is not only robust but also reflective of its commitment to the well-being and equality of its citizens.

Despite the potential to dampen hopes, it's crucial to acknowledge that the apparent confusion in the certified true copy of the Court of Appeal's judgment is likely just a slip. Court judgments are susceptible to errors, and that's why the legal system incorporates the "Slip Rule" to rectify genuine mistakes.

In the absence of any factual basis suggesting otherwise, it seems reasonable to consider this as a mere slip, especially when the rest of the judgment is unequivocal about the failure of AKY's appeal. It's essential to view documents in their entirety rather than selectively. Instead of dwelling on correctable slips, AKY's camp would be better off channeling their energy into addressing the substantive and live issues of the appeal, which hold greater significance.
