📚✨ TEACHING READING AT HOME — THE SIMPLE WAY
Dear mom… 🤍
One of the biggest lies many mothers believe is:
💭 "I'm not a teacher."
💭 "I don't know phonics."
💭 "I don't know where to start."
So they delay teaching reading…
And before they know it, months and years have passed.
But let me tell you something powerful today:
🌿 Your child does not need a perfect teacher.
Your child needs a consistent mother.
Reading is not magic.
Reading is a skill.
And skills can be taught.
Many children struggle with reading not because they are not intelligent…
But because nobody showed them the process step by step.
So what is the simple way?
✨ Step 1: Build Sound Awareness
Before a child reads words, they must hear sounds.
Can they identify beginning sounds?
Can they hear:
🍎 A says /a/
🐝 B says /b/
🐱 C says /c/
Reading starts with hearing before seeing.
✨ Step 2: Teach Letter Sounds Before Letter Names
Many mothers teach:
A, B, C, D...
But reading happens through sounds.
Teach:
A → /a/
M → /m/
S → /s/
Because children blend sounds, not letter names.
✨ Step 3: Blend Slowly
Once your child knows some sounds, start blending.
m - a - t
Becomes:
mat
s - a - t
Becomes:
sat
Keep it playful.
Keep it short.
Keep it consistent.
✨ Step 4: Read Daily
Not once a week.
Not when you remember.
Even 10–15 minutes daily is powerful.
Consistency beats intensity.
✨ Step 5: Celebrate Progress
Don't focus on what your child cannot do.
Celebrate what they CAN do.
Every sound mastered.
Every word blended.
Every page read.
Confidence grows when effort is noticed.
