The 4th Enemy
In every good seed, there lies a trace of bad. It has been the nature of this Ummah since its inception. That is the reason why when Allah is addressing Muslims, He says โThose who have belief among you,โ indicating that not every Muslim is a believer, although all believers are Muslims.
As the creator of all beings, He mixed good with bad, giving rise to a 4th enemy within the Muslim communityโthose who, unaware of it, work against Islam and its growth.
In the current situation of Islam, particularly in Yorubaland or regions where Islam is not yet established, knowledge and ideology must collaborate for the betterment of Islam. However, some scholars possess knowledge without ideology, while ideology needs both wisdom and civilization. Some Muslims may have both knowledge and wisdom but lack the means to apply them effectively.
For a revival of Islam in Yorubaland, we must grasp our societal context and current conditions. Hence, not everyone should speak on Islamic matters or hold a microphone; it should be entrusted to those with genuine Islamic knowledge paired with wisdom and ideology.
Irregular and unfounded statements have negatively influenced Muslimsโ understanding of Islam, hindering our progress while others advance. We have not made a significant impact in terms of political, educational, or economic development in Yorubaland. Where do Yoruba Muslims stand? What contribution do we make to society? Does the Islam we profess not have a purpose or mission?
What we advocate is that in discussions about Islam, not everyone should express their views. Those who do possess knowledge should apply it with wisdom and thoroughly examine our society to ensure that matters are appropriately addressed. This approach is essential for overcoming the 4th enemy and effectively disseminating authentic Islamic knowledge.
