AREWA YOUTH ASSEMBLY FOR GOOD LEADERSHIP CONDEMNS THE ARREST OF OMOYELE SOWORE AT THE COURT PREMISES - CALLS FOR HIS IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Arewa Youth Assembly wishes to express grave concern and condemnation over the reported arrest of Omoyele Sowore at the premises of the Federal High Court, Abuja following his attendance at the court sitting. According to multiple media reports, Sowore was detained by police shortly after attending court proceedings today.

While we may not always align with Mr. Sowore’s methods of activism, including his leadership of the recent protest, the Arewa Youth Assembly nonetheless firmly believe that his fundamental rights must be respected. The rule of law and the protection of civil liberties can not be compromised simply because one disagrees with the individual’s tactics.

In this specific case:

1. The arrest taking place on court premises raises serious concerns about freedom of movement, the independence of the judiciary, and protection of persons attending court proceedings.

2. Mr. Sowore should not be subjected to arbitrary arrest, harassment, or detention simply for being present in a public court setting.

3. We call on the Nigeria Police Force (and in particular the Inspector-General of Police) to immediately release Mr. Sowore and to ensure that his rights are fully respected.

4. We further call for a transparent explanation of the legal basis for his arrest and detention, in line with Nigeria’s constitutional guarantees and international human-rights obligations.

5. We reiterate that while protest is a legitimate tool of democratic expression, it must be conducted lawfully. Equally, the State must refrain from undue suppression of dissent.

The Arewa Youth Assembly remains committed to good governance, accountability, respect for constitutional rights, and the rule of law. We urge all security agencies, actors, and stakeholders to uphold these principles unconditionally.

STAKEHOLDERS OF TARABA STATE UNIVERSITY

‎RE: THE TRUTH ABOUT THE CRISIS IN THE DEPARTMENT OF MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENCE

‎We, the concerned students of the Department of Medical Laboratory Science, Taraba State University (TSU), wish to openly express our deep frustration over the persistent deception, exploitation, and administrative failure that have crippled our department and destroyed the future of many aspiring Medical Laboratory Scientists.

‎Our grievances are not based on hearsay but on repeated false promises and contradictions from the Head of Department (HOD), Dr. Kashibu, whose actions and inactions have left over a thousand students in uncertainty.

‎Below are some of the undeniable truths that expose the reality of what has been happening in our department:

‎🔹 1. The ₦132,000 Indexcing fee

‎We were made to pay ₦132,000 each under the pretense that it would “facilitate all processes” needed for our accreditation and progress. To date, there has been no tangible result or accountability for that money. No receipts, no official communication, and no progress — only silence and excuses.

‎🔹 2. False Promise of Graduation and Induction

‎The HOD assured us that we would graduate and be inducted by October, yet we haven’t even written our 2nd Professional Examination. How can graduation or induction occur without completing this critical step? The promise was clearly a calculated lie to buy time and calm growing unrest.

‎🔹 3. Misleading Claim About Accreditation

‎We were told that we cannot write the 2nd Professional Examination until we have full accreditation.
‎He is now saying we can write second professional exam....This is false. The Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) allows departments with interim accreditation to conduct only first professional exams under supervision. This misinformation has only delayed our academic progress unnecessarily.

‎🔹 4. Blame Game Between the Department and the University

‎The HOD claimed that the Council is ready to visit, but that the university is not ready. This constant shifting of blame is a diversion. If indeed the department met the requirements, MLSCN would have visited long ago. It’s clear that internal mismanagement is the real obstacle.

‎🔹 5. Unauthorized Student Levies

‎We were told that the school did not provide funds for the previous professional examinations, and that students had to contribute. Even if that were true, such funds should be properly documented through official university channels — not collected privately. Transparency has been completely absent and the same HOD said the school gave them all required resources for the professional Examinations

‎🔹 6. Lack of Reagents and Practical Materials

‎For several semesters, our practical classes have suffered due to shortage or complete lack of reagents and essential laboratory materials. This situation undermines our training and makes our program academically substandard, and all excuses and blames are to the management which the HOD stated that the school didn't provide any material for practical....

‎🔹 7. Inflated Indexing Fees

‎The official MLSCN indexing fee ranges between ₦62,000 and ₦65,000, yet the current students were forced to pay ₦82,000 under the excuse of “facilitating processes.” What is the extra money for? There has been no breakdown or accountability — another act of financial exploitation.

‎🔹 8. Dubious Claim of Paying Staff from Personal Pocket

‎The HOD claims to pay certain teaching staff from his personal funds. This is both impossible and unethical — university staff are paid through the bursary and not by individuals. This statement was clearly meant to justify the illegal collection of money from students.

‎🔹 9. Misrepresentation of Accreditation Duration

‎We were told that the department’s interim accreditation is valid until July 2026, implying that everything is fine until then. However, the truth is that without full accreditation, we cannot graduate, be inducted, or be licensed. The council is always ready to visit once all requirements are met — the delay rests squarely on the department that refuse to state out the truth and fact concerning this challenges.

‎⚠️ Conclusion: The Real Problem

‎From the above, it is evident that Dr. Kashibu, alongside his collaborators Essein and Ahmed, have continuously misled students, mismanaged departmental affairs, and enriched themselves at the expense of our education and future. Their greed, dishonesty, and incompetence are the root causes of the ongoing crisis in the Department of Medical Laboratory Science, TSU.

‎We therefore call on the Governor of Taraba State, the Vice Chancellor, and the school management to urgently:

‎Investigate these allegations transparently, and all students leaders should be called to defend this claims.

‎Audit all monies collected from students,

‎Replace or discipline those found guilty, and

‎Restore the integrity and future of our department.

‎We refuse to remain silent while our destinies are being toyed with.

‎Signed,
‎Concerned Students of
‎Medical Laboratory Science, Taraba State University (TSU)
‎For the sake of truth, justice, and the future of the profession.

Touchdown! After A Short Trip Abroad, H.E Atiku Abubakar Is Back In Nigeria Stronger, Sharper, And Ready For

Atiku Arrives Nigeria, Poised to Join ADC

Nigeria’s former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has returned to the country after weeks abroad, fueling speculations about his next political step.

At the airport, Atiku was received by Senator Aisha Dahiru Ahmed (Binani), the APC governorship flag bearer in Adamawa during the 2023 elections.

The Wazirin Adamawa, who resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in July, is now expected to formally pitch his tent with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), signaling a major realignment ahead of 2027.

🛑 Elrufai In A Church In Imo State Running Lectures On Voting..

Mallam Nasir El-Rufai attended the 30th Diocesan Women’s Conference in Imo State on the second day of his visit to Owerri."

Mallam Nasir Ahmed was warmly received by the Catholic Church in Owerri, Imo State.

El-Rufai speaking in Imo State as he appeals to mothers and daughters to take voter registration seriously.

When you’re on the side of the truth, you start speaking the truth, and when you’re on the other side, you also behave like them..

So El Rufai is now here in the side of truth, that’s the reason for his change.

As He made bold to say " I believe firmly in the prospects of this country if we direct our minds to pragmatic solutions and put our hands to the heavy lifting needed for a new path forward. Across our diversity, we can move forward together, united in a common endeavour for development and prosperity."

Let us therefore have mercy on El-Rufai, he may not be upright enough but he is certainly not the problem of Nigeria right now.

Why Dr Kefas Must Prove Sowore Wrong

By Rikwense Muri

Comrade Omoyele Sowore is mistaken in labeling Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State a “disaster.” Such language is careless and unhelpful in fostering a productive political culture. Leadership deserves constructive critique rather than insults that generate noise without solutions.

However, Governor Kefas cannot dismiss Sowore’s words as mere provocation. Each harsh criticism, even when exaggerated, carries a challenge—a call to prove doubters wrong. Tarabans did not elect Dr. Kefas to engage in verbal sparring with political activists; they elected him to deliver results, move the state forward, and demonstrate that leadership is about service, not rhetoric.

Tarabans voted for Kefas in 2023 based on his Five Fingers Agenda: education, health, infrastructure, security, and economic development. These promises raised hopes across the state, and citizens are closely watching to see how these commitments translate into real improvements in their lives.

While there have been notable steps—such as the free and compulsory education policy, efforts to stabilize Taraba State University, and attempts to craft a development master plan—expectations remain high. Tarabans want visible infrastructure, better healthcare, reduced insecurity, and an economy that offers hope to youths. Anything less will only amplify voices like Sowore’s.

Governor Kefas cannot take comfort in defending himself against critics. The true defense against Sowore’s insult lies in performance. If, after four years, Tarabans can point to better schools, functioning hospitals, accessible roads, a safer environment, and a thriving economy, then history—not words—will silence the critics.

Sowore thrives on provocation, and responding with counterattacks only grants him relevance. Instead, Governor Kefas should focus on governance and prove that he is not the “brakeless trailer” Sowore described, but the driver capable of steering Taraba toward sustainable growth.

Taraba has endured years of underdevelopment. While patience is necessary, it must be rewarded with steady, measurable progress. Tarabans are not asking for miracles; they seek effective leadership.

Dr. Kefas is still early in his tenure, with the opportunity to ensure that when his four years are complete, the label of “disaster” will be remembered not as his identity but as an insult proven false by his achievements. He can turn Sowore’s attack into motivation for greater service.

Ultimately, history will not judge him by what Sowore said or what his supporters wrote in his defense. It will judge him by what he delivers for the people who entrusted him with power. This is the challenge before Governor Agbu Kefas.

Kaduna Police Summon El-Rufai, Seven ADC Leaders Over Alleged Criminal Conspiracy

By Peter Okwoche

Police in Kaduna State have issued a summons to former governor Nasir El‑Rufai and seven other key members of the African Democratic Congress ADC , prompting claims of constitutional overreach and a brewing political showdown

The police want all eight to answer to charges of criminal conspiracy, inciting public disturbance, mischief, and causing grievous hurt. They are to appear before the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) on Monday, September 8, 2025. The summons come amid heightened political tension in the state.

The letter, dated September 4, 2025, signed by DCP Uzainu Abdullahi, directs El‑Rufai and six named ADC leaders—including Bashir Sa’idu, Ja’afaru Sani, Ubaidullah Mohammed, Nasiru Maikano, Aminu Abita, and Ahmed Rufa’i Hussaini, to appear at SCID on September 8, 2025 to 'clarify the allegations reported against them' by complainants

On Thursday, police sealed the ADC Secretariat hours before the North‑West leadership's planned visit, supposedly to console victims of last Saturday’s violent disruption of an opposition coalition inauguration, attacks which were blamed on suspected thugs wielding cutlasses, clubs, and stones.

Meanwhile, Mallam El‑Rufai has fiercely denounced the summons as a violation of their constitutional rights.

In a press briefing, he criticized the police for waving an unserved court order, calling it 'a dangerous descent into lawlessness,' and vowed to challenge the summons in court.

As the countdown to September 8 begins, all eyes will be on SCID and the state’s corridors of power. Will El‑Rufai and the ADC comply, or will they mount a legal battle?

"I can end b♡nditry in two months if given control"- Zamfara Governor

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State says he can wip£ out b♡nditry in the state within two months if he is given full control of security agencies.

In a viral video, the governor said he knows where the b♡ndit leaders are hiding but cannot act because security operatives only take orders from Abuja.

“I sw£ar by Almighty Allah, wherever a b♡ndit leader is in Zamfara State, I know. If he moves, I know. With my phone, I can show you their locations today. But we cannot act beyond our powers,” Lawal said.

He became emotional as he spoke about residents suffering constant att♡cks while security forces delay action. He recalled an incident in Shinkafi where security agents failed to respond quickly because they were waiting for approval from the federal authorities.

“If today I have the power to give orders to the security agencies, I can assure you b♡nditry in Zamfara will end within two months. Many times I shed t£ars for my people, because I see the problem but cannot order the security men to act,” he added.

Lawal explained that despite his limited powers, his government has supported security agencies with 150 patrol vehicles, thousands of Community Protection Guards, and 2,000 hunters from Borno and Yobe.

He also accused some politicians of frustrating efforts to end insecurity. “The politicisation of insecurity is not hÙrting me as a person; it is destroying Zamfara. Some people do not want us to succeed. But I will not stop trying,” the governor stated.

🛑“MY INTENTIONS WERE TO RETIRE FROM NATIONAL POLITICS, BUT ASIWAJU CALLED ME BACk TO DISGRACE ME”
-Fmr Gov Nasir El-Rufai.

I have reflected deeply on how and where things went wrong, particularly regarding my role in supporting Asiwaju and orchestrating the Muslim-Muslim ticket that secured his victory, driven by massive votes from Nigeria’s North West region.

My initial intention was to retire peacefully and step away from the political spotlight, allowing other players to take the stage. However, during a meeting in Kaduna, in the presence of Arewa elites, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu persuaded me to pledge my intelligence and commitment to serve in his government.
As a patriotic Nigerian dedicated to transformative change, I accepted this call, aligning with my belief in progressive governance.
He appointed me as a minister, and I underwent the mandatory senatorial screening as required by law. To my dismay, I was unexpectedly thrust into the spotlight at the National Assembly, subjected to public ridicule on national television, and made a caricature.

Asiwaju seems to forget that I inherited Buhari’s 12 million organic votes. By 2027, Insha Allah, we will show him the way out of A*o Rock.

PRESS STATEMENT

AREWA YOUTH ASSEMBLY CONDEMNS OMOYELE SOWORE’S INSULT ON GOVERNOR AGBU KEFAS, DEMANDS APOLOGY WITHIN 48 HOURS

The Arewa Youth Assembly has noted with deep disappointment the reckless and uncultured remarks made by Mr. Omoyele Sowore on his official page, wherein he referred to the Governor of Taraba State, His Excellency Dr. Agbu Kefas, as “completely useless, corrupt, inept, and incompetent.”

This statement is not only an insult to Governor Kefas but also a direct affront to the good people of Taraba State and, by extension, the entire North. The office of the Governor, regardless of political differences or personal opinions, deserves respect. In Northern Nigeria, our culture and values are deeply rooted in decency, courtesy, and respect for leadership. Constructive criticism is welcome in a democracy, but descending to insults and abuse is alien to our traditions and must not be tolerated.

The Arewa Youth Assembly hereby issues a 48-hour ultimatum to Mr. Sowore to tender a public and unreserved apology to Governor Agbu Kefas and the people of Taraba State. Failure to do so will compel the Assembly, through its State Coordinators across the 19 Northern States and the FCT, to take decisive action in defense of our culture, our leaders, and our collective dignity.

We wish to make it abundantly clear: democracy does not give license to disrespect. Our leaders can and should be held accountable, but this must be done within the bounds of respect, responsibility, and our cherished values as a people.

Signed,

Amb. Abdul Danbature
President, Arewa Youth Assembly
(Proud son of Taraba State)
