Press Statement, 28/06/2024

Following the expiration of the tenure of Local Government Elected Officials, Jigawa State Ministry for Local Government and Community Development has directed the Director Administration and General Services (DAGs) of all the 27 Local Governments of the state to take over the affairs of administration of the Local Government from today; 28/06/2024.

Therefore, all appointed officials including; Secretaries, Supervisory Councillors, Special advisers and assistants of all the Local Government Councils are equally relieved on their appointments.

In his remarks, on behalf of the Jigawa State Government Under the leadership of His Excellency, the Governor Malam Umar A. Namadi FCA, the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development Hon. Ahmed Garba MK, Congratulates the outgoing officials on the Successful Conduct of their tenures, which shows the significant contributions rendered to the development of their areas and the state in general.

He further called on them for immediate handing over of all Governments' Belongings in their possessions.

Ex-Senate President Lawan Buries Mother In Yobe

Former President of the Senate, Senator (Dr.) Ahmad Lawan, on Sunday, laid his mother, Hajiya Halima (Baba) Ibrahim, to rest in Gashua, Bade local government area of Yobe State.

Hajiya Ibrahim died on Saturday at her residence in Gashua town at the age of 86.

A burial ceremony was held for the deceased before her internment at the Gashua Central Cemetery.

The Islamic burial rites were performed by the Imam of the Gashua Central Mosque, Imam Ahmad Talba.

Constituents in their thousands from Senator Lawan’s Yobe North Senatorial District, and sympathizers from beyond thronged the venue of the funeral ceremony which commenced at 11a.m on Sunday.

Among dignitaries present were the Governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum, the Deputy Governor of Yobe State, Idi Barde Gubana, and Speaker of the Yobe State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chiroma Mashio.

Others in attendance include Emirs and traditional leaders, Senator Babangida Hussaini (APC – Jigawa North West), Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan (APC – Borno Central), Hon. Usman Zannah representing Kaga/Gubio/Magumeri Federal Constituency, and serving Commissioners with the Yobe State Government.
