Police Deploy Officers Across Adamawa Ahead of Planned Ohanaeze Youth Council Protest

The Adamawa State Police Command has deployed security personnel to major locations and critical infrastructures in the state ahead of the planned protest by the Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) scheduled for Monday, October 20, 2025.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the deployment is a proactive step to protect lives and property and maintain law and order.

The Police Command, working in collaboration with other security agencies, has also launched a joint operation and show of force along major routes and public areas. This move is aimed at discouraging any form of violence or disruption and reassuring residents of their safety.

Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, urged residents to remain calm and continue their lawful activities without fear. He called for cooperation between the public and security agencies to maintain peace in the state.

The Command also reaffirmed its commitment to upholding human rights while warning that any attempt to breach the peace would be handled professionally and firmly.

STRENGTHENING OUR NATIONAL SECURITY ARCHITECTURE

I have approved changes in the hierarchy of our Armed Forces to further strengthen Nigeria’s national security architecture. General Olufemi Oluyede is appointed Chief of Defence Staff, Major-General W. Shaibu becomes Chief of Army Staff, Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke is Chief of Air Staff, and Rear Admiral I. Abbas is the new Chief of Naval Staff, while Major-General E.A.P. Undiendeye retains his role as Chief of Defence Intelligence.

I thank General Christopher Musa and the outgoing Service Chiefs for their selfless service and dedicated leadership, and I charge the new Service Chiefs to deepen professionalism, vigilance, and unity within our Armed Forces as they serve our nation with honour.

Governor Fintiri Honoured with Lifetime Service Award by Historical Society of Nigeria.

The Historical Society of Nigeria (HSN) has presented a Lifetime of Distinguished Service to the Historical Society of Nigeria Award to His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Governor of Adamawa State.

The prestigious honour was conferred on the governor in recognition of his remarkable contributions to education, cultural preservation, and support for historical research and scholarship in Nigeria.

The presentation took place at the Governor’s Office in Yola on October 16, 2025, as part of activities marking the Society’s event and the 6th Congress of the Association of African Historians.

Governor Fintiri expressed appreciation to the Society for the recognition, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to promoting history and academic excellence in Adamawa State and beyond.

Just now: President Tinubu is leading the meeting of the National Assembly in Abuja.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is leading the National Police Assembly in the Assembly of the Presidential Assembly, Abuja. The session started at 2:39pm today Thursday, shortly after the President concluded the National Assembly meeting where he presented the name of the new INEC chairman.

The conference came five weeks after the President confirmed the federal government was investigating the establishment of state police forces, with the strengthening of new forest guards (forest guards) sent into the chains to fight the security crisis. On 2 September, 2025, while receiving Katsina state team under the leadership of Governor Dikko Radda, President Tinubu said: “I am looking into all areas of security; I must provide a state police force.” """""

During today's session, attendees prayed in memory of former National Police Sufeton, Solomon Arase, who passed away on August 31, 2025. The Council reflects on current security challenges, progress made in reforms at the police department, and the comfort and resources of officers across the country. Also, it is expected to be discussed on topics related to leadership and working order between states.

Deputy President Kashim Shettima, National Secretary George Akume, Security Advisor Nuhu Ribadu, Minister of Police Ibrahim Gaidam are in attendance with all state governors and their representatives. The Police Council, which constitution is established under Section 153, is under the leadership of the President, and advises on the process, administering and management of the police, including the issue of identifying or removing National Police Su***de.
