PLATEAU BLEEDS AGAIN: When Promises Fail and Innocent Lives Pay the Price
Once again, communities in Plateau State—particularly Bokkos, Riyom and Bassa Local Government Areas—are mourning. Families bury loved ones, and homes lie in ruins. In the latest wave of attacks, men, women, and children have been killed in cold blood. Entire communities live in fear, uncertain what the next night will bring.
This is not the first time. And tragically, it may not be the last.
Despite repeated assurances from the government and security agencies, the killings persist. We hear the same worn-out statements after each attack: “The situation is under control,” “We will arrest the attackers,” “Peace is our priority.” Yet the violence continues—often just days, even hours, after such reassurances.
This raises urgent questions:
- Where are the patrols?
- Where is the intelligence?
- Where is the urgency?
We are not just losing numbers—we are losing people.
Children who will never grow up.
Parents who will never return home.
Entire communities scarred by trauma that may never heal.
These attacks are more than assaults on villages—they are assaults on our shared humanity.
And yet, amid pain, a deeper truth emerges: no one truly controls tomorrow. Governments falter. Systems collapse. But God remains sovereign.
As we cry out for justice and call for peace, let us also live with purpose—and with eternity in view. Let us not take a single breath for granted.
Because after the bullets stop flying…
After the politicians leave with their soundbites…After the media shifts to the next tragedy…
One truth remains:
Only God holds tomorrow.
So yes, we will demand justice.
Yes, we will call for action.
But we must also search our hearts.
Let us love fiercely.
Forgive completely.
And live like each day is our last, because one day, it will be.
Coffins don’t knock. They don’t call ahead. They just arrive.
So live right. Do good. Make peace.
Because when the dust settles and the noise fades, only one thing will matter:
Where you stand—with God, with people, and with eternity.
And to the grieving hearts left behind—
May God comfort the families of all who lost their lives in these waves of attacks.
May His peace, which passes all understanding, guard their hearts in this dark hour.
