Nigerian Army Graduates Special Forces Battalion to Boost Counter-Terrorism Operations

The Nigerian Army has strengthened its counter-terrorism and internal security capabilities following the graduation of a fully trained Special Forces battalion at the Nigerian Army Special Forces School in Doma, Nasarawa State.

The graduation ceremony, held on Friday, October 9, 2026, was presided over by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, who said the new battalion would enhance the Army’s capacity to conduct specialised operations, navigate difficult terrain and dismantle terrorist and criminal networks.

Jos-Based Naruda Herbal Tea Heads to London for 2026 NextGen Innovation Challenge

A Made-in-Jos product, Naruda Herbal Tea, has emerged among 173 Nigerian products set to feature at the grand finale of the 2026 International NextGen Innovation Challenge in London, United Kingdom.

Naruda Herbal Tea, produced by Naruda Integrated Ltd., is an emerging health and wellness brand based in Jos, Plateau State. The company specialises in producing, processing and packaging natural teas and beverages through a farm-to-cup model that prioritises products made from 100 per cent locally sourced natural ingredients.

The NextGen Innovation Challenge is organised by UKALD in partnership with the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI), an agency under the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, responsible for promoting technology incubation, innovation, entrepreneurship and enterprise development in Nigeria.

Mutfwang Restores Pan Chiefdom First-Class Stool, Pledges Roads and Electricity

Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has installed Miskagam Jerome Goewam Leklat II as the new Long Pan of Pan Chiefdom, restoring the traditional stool to First-Class status. At the ceremony in Qua’an-Pan, the Governor urged the monarch to promote justice, unity, peace and reconciliation.

Mutfwang reaffirmed support for traditional institutions and pledged completion of the 61km Dokan Tofa–Ba’ap–Kurgwi and Jibam–Dokan Kasuwa roads, alongside improved electricity in the Southern Zone. He also called for stronger security cooperation and warned against drug abuse and indiscriminate mining.

The new monarch pledged support while seeking stronger security along the Qua’an-Pan–Mangu–Nasarawa corridor.

Mutfwang Flags Off Reconstruction of 41km Bisichi–Fan–Mangu Halle Road

Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, flagged off the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the 41-kilometre Bisichi–Fan–Mangu Halle Road.

The project, upgraded from a surface-dressed road to a full asphalt road, is expected to improve connectivity across the state’s three senatorial districts, reduce travel time and enhance access to markets, schools and healthcare.

Mutfwang said the project reflects his administration’s commitment to durable infrastructure. He also announced Federal Government approval for the Mararaban Jama’a–Mangu–Kanke–Langtang–Shendam–Ibi Road, while appreciating President Tinubu for supporting Plateau’s infrastructure development.

VP Shettima Leads Nigeria-Ethiopia Nutrition Exchange Mission

Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to lead Nigeria’s delegation to the inaugural Nigeria-Ethiopia Nutrition Leadership Exchange Visit.

The high-level forum, hosted at the invitation of Ethiopian Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh, will focus on strengthening government-led, multisectoral approaches to nutrition delivery. Nigerian officials will exchange experiences with Ethiopian counterparts and visit key agricultural and nutrition initiatives in Oromia, Mojo and Bishoftu.

Shettima is accompanied by Zamfara Governor Dauda Lawal, Jigawa Governor Umar Namadi, Budget Minister Abubakar Bagudu, Agriculture Minister Abubakar Kyari and NEMA Director-General Zubaida Umar. He will return after the engagements.

Unidentified Man Found De@d In Plateau, Private Parts Removed

An unidentified man has reportedly been found dead behind the Pankshin Monday Market in Pankshin Local Government Area of Plateau State.

According to reports, some of his body parts, including his private parts, were allegedly removed, making it difficult for residents to establish his identity.

The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear, while relevant authorities are expected to investigate the incident and work towards identifying the deceased.

Members of the public are urged to share the information responsibly and assist the authorities and the deceased’s family in efforts to establish his identity and reunite him with his loved ones.
