Davido Appointed Chairman Osun Sports Trust Fund

The Osun State Government has announced the appointment of Afrobeats star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, as chairman of the Osun Sports Trust Fund.

The government said the move was aimed at raising funds to transform the state sports sector.

It also reaffirmed its commitment to completing the ongoing renovation and rehabilitation of the Osogbo Township Stadium, assuring that the upgraded facility will meet Olympic standards upon completion.

As reported by the Guardian Nigeria, confirming the appointment, the state deputy governor, Kola Adewusi, who doubles as the Commissioner for Sports, said the state government under Governor Ademola Adeleke is determined to transform the stadium into a world-class sports arena that will not only host national events but also attract international competitions.

He said, “Ongoing renovation and rehabilitation of the Osogbo Township Stadium to meet Olympic standards — a project that will be completed in the shortest possible time.

“I am pleased to inform you that plans are in advanced stages towards the establishment of the Osun State Sports Commission, which will serve as a central body for sports administration, development, and policy implementation. Introduction of a Sports Trust Fund to attract support from sports philanthropists within and outside the state, ensuring sustainable sports financing and development.

“Davido has been appointed to chair the Sports Trust Fund, and he did not hesitate in accepting the appointment. His intervention would attract funds that would impact Osun sports positively.”

🔊!!! 3 Division GOC Flags Off Fourth Quarter Basic Battle Course to Boost Troop Combat Efficiency

In a bid to enhance combat readiness and operational effectiveness, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division and Commander of Operation ENDURING PEACE, Major General Folusho Oyinlola, inaugurated the Fourth Quarter Basic Battle Course IX 2025 on Tuesday, 21 October 2025, at Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, Jos.

Represented by Brigadier General Okezim Omeni, the GOC emphasized that the training is designed to strengthen tactical proficiency, initiative, and weapon-handling skills for day and night operations.

He urged participants to approach the course with dedication and discipline, aligning with the Chief of Army Staff’s Command Philosophy.

Brigadier General Nicodemus Awobi, Division Training Officer, highlighted new modules on Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and advanced marksmanship.

The GOC commended Lieutenant General OO Oluyede for prioritizing training as a key welfare initiative.

Senior officers and commanders attended the event, which ended with a group photograph.
