🔊!!! Police Arrest Crime Syndicates in Plateau, Recover Locally Made Rifle
The Plateau State Police Command has announced significant breakthroughs in its fight against crime, with the arrest of suspected armed robbers and kidnappers as well as the recovery of a fabricated rifle.
Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina, disclosed this on Tuesday during a press briefing held at the Police Headquarters in Jos.
“It is with a great sense of duty and an unwavering commitment to transparency that I have called you here today, to share our achievements with you over these past months,” he said.
“We have succeeded in putting an end to the activities of some criminal-minded individuals in our midst whose perception of a decent life is to cause chaos, thereby deprive other innocent citizens of their means of livelihood.”
According to him, these achievements were made possible through the dedication of officers, collaboration with Plateau citizens, and support from other security agencies.
On August 13, 2025, the Police received a report from three cattle traders, Abubakar Mohammadu, Nasiru Umar, and Haruna Mohammed, who were attacked and robbed on July 27 while returning from Bukuru Cattle Market.
The victims were dispossessed of a total of ₦1,918,000, being proceeds from the sale of their cows, along with phones, knives, and walking sticks.
Detectives from Bassa Division quickly swung into action, leading to the arrest of three suspects identified as Jafaru Sale, Abdulsalam Adam, and Mamuda Musa.
“The suspects confessed to be responsible for the armed robberies that have been carried out along Bassa and Jengre communities,” the Commissioner stated. He added that the case is under investigation at the State CID and would be charged to court soon.
In a separate operation, police operatives acting on credible intelligence raided the residence of one Kokyak in Mabudi, Langtang South Local Government, on August 18. Although the suspect fled before their arrival, officers recovered a locally fabricated rifle with an empty magazine during a search of the house.
“Efforts are on top gear to arrest the suspect for proper prosecution,” Adesina assured.
The Commissioner thanked the people of Plateau State for their cooperation, stressing that citizen-friendly intelligence has been crucial to maintaining peace. “I want to assure you, that we as a Command are doing everything within our constitutional powers, to ensure that peace is restored on the Plateau,” he said.
Adesina also revealed that active response phone numbers of the Command’s Management Team, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Team Commanders will be made available to the public for emergency cases.
