🚨 JUST IN: DAVID ABEKE CRIES OUT.

David abeke deserves our support

If I do not get anything in music, it is because the Tiv have refused to appreciate my efforts, David Abeks once said. I’ve taken Tiv music to the international level. I was the first to modernise Tiv music.

A legend in every sense, David Abeks has given us timeless sounds that shaped our childhood and preserved our cultural identity. With over 30 songs, he blessed the world with his first album Lost Affection (1993), followed by Tar Ne Taver Yum (1998) and Refugee (2003)—projects that cemented his place as one of Tiv land’s greatest musical pioneers.

Today, we are appealing to the prominent sons and daughters of Benue State, and especially His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Benue State, to come to the aid of this iconic talent who carried Tiv music on his shoulders and projected our culture far beyond our borders.

David Abeks deserves our support, appreciation, and recognition.
Let us not allow a living legend fade away without giving him the honour he truly deserves.

🚨 The child marriage that made America pay attention.

But instead, she got married at the age of 9 years.

In 1937, in Hancock County, Tennessee, 9-year-old Eunice Winstead married 22-year-old Charlie Johns, a local to***co farmer.
He paid a preacher one dollar to do the wedding.
He lied about her age to get a marriage license.
She was still in 4th grade.

At the time, this wasn’t against the law.
Tennessee had no rule about how young someone could be to get married.

When the news came out, people across the country were shocked.
Life magazine published pictures.
The public was outraged.

Because of this, Tennessee quickly passed a law saying you had to be at least 16 to marry.
Other states did the same.
But the new law didn’t cancel old marriages.

Eunice and Charlie stayed married.
They had nine children.
They were still together when Charlie died in 1997.
Eunice lived until 2003.
She was 75.

This isn’t something from ancient times.
This happened in America, in 1937.
And it took a 9-year-old girl to make the country finally say:
“Enough.”

If you are her parents What will do?
