BREAKING: Plateau Police Arrest Clergyman, Air Force, Navy Personnel Over Alleged Plot to Kidnap Bishops’ Wives in Jos

Plateau State Police Command has arrested three suspects over an alleged plot to kidnap the wives of two prominent bishops in Jos, Plateau State.

The suspects were identified as 42-year-old Rev. Hassan Yunisim Mijah of Tudun Wada, Jos North; Sgt. Ezra Sunday, a Nigerian Air Force personnel; and OS Usman Khalid, a Nigerian Navy personnel. The two military personnel are attached to Sector 1 of Operation Enduring Peace in Jos.

Police alleged that the suspects planned to abduct the wives of Bishop Ephraim Gongden and retired Bishop Benjamin Kwashi, who reside in the Rantya area of Jos South.

According to the report, the suspects were arrested on August 7, 2026, following intelligence received by the police. The command said the suspects allegedly confessed during interrogation.

The leadership of Operation Enduring Peace has reportedly been notified of the arrest of the two military personnel, while investigations continue to uncover the full circumstances of the alleged plot and identify any other persons connected to the suspected network.

A MESSAGE OF CONCERN ON RELIGIOUS UNITY AND THE FUTURE OF PKK
Recent remarks attributed to Sheikh Jinkir have raised concerns among many people, and those concerns should not simply be dismissed. Words from respected religious leaders carry weight, especially in a country like Nigeria where religion is deeply connected to the lives and emotions of our people.
My concern is not about attacking Islam or Muslims. It is about protecting the peace, balance, and unity that our communities in PKK and Plateau State have enjoyed and must continue to enjoy.
Nigeria belongs to all of us. Christians, Muslims and people of other faiths have equal rights as citizens. No religion should be made to feel threatened, superior, or excluded because of who occupies political office.
At the same time, Christians in Plateau State and across Nigeria must not become politically careless or silent. Standing up does not mean hatred or confrontation. It means being informed, participating in elections, defending our constitutional rights, speaking responsibly, and ensuring that our communities have leaders who understand and respect the diversity of our people.
We must learn to look beyond political parties and personalities. We must pay attention to the words and actions of every leader, whether political or religious, and ask whether those words are bringing people together or creating unnecessary division.
If tomorrow someone begins telling our people that one religion is dominant simply because people from that faith hold political positions, we must be prepared to challenge that narrative peacefully and constitutionally. Political power should never be confused with religious ownership of a community.
PKK belongs to all of us. Plateau belongs to all of us. Nigeria belongs to all of us.
Let Christians wake up, not to fight Muslims, but to participate. Let Muslims do the same. Let every citizen understand that democracy requires an active and informed people.
Our greatest strength is not our religion. It is our unity, our conscience, our votes, and our commitment to justice.
We should reject every attempt to turn our religious differences into political weapons.
We need leaders who build bridges, not walls. We need religious voices that preach peace, not suspicion. And above all, we need citizens who are awake, informed, peaceful, and ready to defend democracy.
Nigeria needs unity. Plateau needs peace. PKK needs responsible leadership.

THIS IS NOT PREACHING PEACE! 💔
Listen carefully to what this religious leader is saying inside a mosque. How can someone stand before people as a religious preacher and use the pulpit to spread words that fuel hatred, anger and division?
What exactly are we teaching the next generation? 😢
A true religious leader should be preaching peace, love, forgiveness and peaceful coexistence—not planting hatred in the hearts of people.
We cannot continue to justify dangerous words in the name of religion. Enough is enough! 🛑
Whether Christian or Muslim, we all have a responsibility to reject hatred and protect the peace of our communities.
Religion should never be a weapon for hatred. Let us choose peace before it is too late. 🕊️🙏

“I went to pay an emergency visit to a deceased friend, who I was called has passed on this evening. He was feeling fine. About Tuesday, he was rushed to the hospital.

By the time I got there on Wednesday, he was breathing really fast, his blood pressure was really high, and he told me what happened.

He went to conduct a DNA test on his children. He has two children with his wife, and he collected a DNA test. Unfortunately for him, the two children are not his own. He’s not their father. One is SS3, and the other one is JSS2.

And he passed out. This evening, he has moved to the Lord. He’s de@d. Men, I’m not saying your wife che@t oo, don’t take my words for that. But if you have the capacity, please run a DNA test...”

- Man recounts friend’s sudden de@th after a DNA test reportedly showed his two children were not biologically his.
