*TOPIC: ENCOUNTERING THE ALPHA AND OMEGA*

*REVELATION 22:12-17 [NIV]*

12: “Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done.

13: I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.

14: “Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city.

15: Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.

16: “I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.”

17: The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life.

*ENCOUNTERING THE ALPHA AND OMEGA*

Alpha and Omega are the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet. They are used in the Bible to describe Jesus Christ as being the beginning and the end of everything. He is the initiator and concluder of every matter.

The writer of The Book of Hebrews similarly refers to Jesus Christ as the Author and perfecter, or finisher of our faith [Heb.12:2]. As every matter gradually wins down, Jesus Christ, the Alpha and Omega, announces His soon return and the reward he holds. The reward will be given based on what each one has done.

Those found ready, having washed their robes --- cleansed by the blood of the Lamb---will be granted access to the Tree of Life and the gate into the city, which represents God's presence. Every person need to have this encounter with the Alpha and Omega. As a young person, you must have this encounter, as the world is currently heading to an unknown destination.

Don't align yourself with those outside---dogs, those who practice magic, arts, the sexually immoral, murderers, idolaters, and so on. Their end has already come! Take comfort in the fact that your beginning and ending are safely held in the hands of the Alpha and Omega.

*QUESTION:* Have you encountered the Alpha and the Omega?

*PRAYER:* There is no doubt, Dear Lord, that this world is heading to an unknown destination. Lord, help me to anchor in you, the Alpha and Omega. Amen.

*TOPIC: EMBRACING THE PROMISE OF CHRIST'S RETURN*

7: “Behold, I am coming soon! Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy in this book.”

8: I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. And when I had heard and seen them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who had been showing them to me.

9: But he said to me, “Do not do it! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers the prophets and of all who keep the words of this book. Worship God!”

10: Then he told me, “Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, because the time is near.

11: Let him who does wrong continue to do wrong; let him who is vile continue to be vile; let him who does right continue to do right; and let him who is holy continue to be holy.”

*EMBRACING THE PROMISE OF CHRIST'S RETURN*

As the Apostle John, writer of Revelation, reaches the last chapter, he begins to reiterate some profound promisees regarding the coming of Christ.

The Lord Jesus Himself reaffirms His coming and announces blessings for those who heed the message of the Book. In utter bewilderment, the Apostle John attempts to worship the Angel but is Forbidden to do so.

Worship is ascribed to God alone! This serves as a warning to humans who, due to their wealth, fame, and power, are sometimes worshipped. As a young person, you may have certain celebrities you admire to the point of worshiping them. That is wrong.

Jesus Christ alone is to be worshipped. No matter how much you are wowed by a human being. Even if it is your spiritual leader, such as your pastor or discipler, do not worship them! Live expectantly for the return of Christ. He has promised to return, and He will! Living daily in this reality will keep you in check.

*QUESTION:* What in your life shows that you have embraced the expected return of Christ?

*PRAYER:* Lord Jesus, please keep me eagerly expecting your return; help me to embrace it, and keep me in check, Amen.

*SUNDAY, 30 AUGUST*
*TEXT: REVELATION 21:15-27*
*TOPIC: GREAT AND UNIVERSAL CITY*

*REVELATION 21:15-27 [NIV]*

15: The angel who talked with me had a measuring rod of gold to measure the city, its gates and its walls.

16: The city was laid out like a square, as long as it was wide. He measured the city with the rod and found it to be 12,000 stadia in length, and as wide and high as it is long.

17: He measured its wall and it was 144 cubits thick, by man’s measurement, which the angel was using.

18: The wall was made of jasper, and the city of pure gold, as pure as glass.

19: The foundations of the city walls were decorated with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald,

20: the fifth sardonyx, the sixth carnelian, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst.

21: The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city was of pure gold, like transparent glass.

22: I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.

23: The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp.

24: The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it.

25: On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there.

26: The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it.

27: Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.

*GREAT AND UNIVERSAL CITY*

Hurray! John receives a glimpse of the ultimate destination for "those who are saved"--- a magnificent City descending from heaven like a bright prepared for her husband [see Revelation 21:1-3].

The city's gates are measured equally, built on a massive foundation with precious materials, making it a place no one should miss [vs.15-20].

In This city, the streets are made of pure, transparent gold, and there is no need for a temple, sun, or moon because they Almighty and the Lamp are the source of light [vs.21-24].

The best part is that there will be no security at the gates, yet no unwelcome guests can enter [vs.25-27]. Given this Vision, what could prevent you from becoming a citizen of that city?

*QUESTION:* What could keep me from entering heaven by giving my life to Christ?

*PRAYER:* Dear Lord, my goal is to reach the beautiful city where Your light shines forever. Guide me so that I remain focused, in Jesus' name, Amen.

TOPIC: A NEW HEAVEN AND A NEW EARTH

REVELATION 21:1-8 (NIV)

1: Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea.

2: I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.

3: And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.

4: He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

5: He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”

6: He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life.

7: He who overcomes will inherit all this, and I will be his God and he will be my son.

8: But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”

A NEW HEAVEN AND A NEW EARTH

John presents a vision of a new heaven and a new earth, the eternal home of Believers.

Following the millennial reign, God will establish a world free from death, pain, and separation from Him (vs.4).

In this new creation, only overcomers will dwell as stated in verse 7 and 8.

QUESTION: Are you ready for the new Heaven and the new Earth?

PRAYER: Make me a candidate of the new heaven, who will dwell with you forever in Jesus' name. Amen.

*TOPIC: THE GREAT WHITE JUDGEMENT THRONE*

*REVELATION 20:11-15*

11.Then i saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them.
12.And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged accordingly to what they had done as recorded in the books.
13.The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done.
14.Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second dead.
15.Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.

*THE GREAT WHITE JUDGEMENT THRONE*

The time will come for all humans, living or death, to face the Great White Throne of Judgement (vs. 11-12) based on their deeds.

Everyone will be judged fairly, as “all have sinned" (Rom. 3:23). Believers would have been condemned, but Christ's sacrifice paid their penalty (Rom. 6:23).

Regardless of how one dies, all souls will be resurrected for judgement. The lost will be judged, while redeemed believers were raised during the Rapture an previous resurrections.

Those not found in the Book of Life will face the “second death" (vs. 14-15, cf. Rev. 3:5).

*QUESTION:*How do you treat your faith in light with the Book of Revelation?

*PRAYER:* LORD Jesus, let me not stand before the White Judgement Throne for Christ's sake, Amen.

*TOPIC: THE INNATE CORRUPTION OF HUMAN NATURE*

7: When the thousand years are over, Satan will be released from his prison

8: and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth—Gog and Magog—to gather them for battle. In number they are like the sand on the seashore.

9: They marched across the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of God’s people, the city he loves. But fire came down from heaven and devoured them.

10: And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

*THE INNATE CORRUPTION OF HUMAN NATURE*

It is alarming to witness the depths of human depravity, even after experiencing the reign of Christ during the millennium.

When Satan was released from his confinement, he swiftly deceived many, rellying vast numbers to rebel against God.

These people surrounded the camp of the Saints, but they were consumed by fire from heaven.

Satan, alone with the beast and false prophets, faced ultimate judgment in the take off fire.

*QUESTION:* Why do so many persist in sin despite God's unwavering forgiveness?

*PRAYER:* Dear Lord, empower me to overcome a stubborn spirit and keep me aligned with your will, in Jesus' name, Amen.

*TEXT: REVELATION 20:1-6*
*TOPIC: THE ANGEL WITH THE KEY TO BIND SATAN*

*REVELATION 20:1-6 [NIV]*

1: And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain.

2: He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years.

3: He threw him into the Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time.

4: I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony for Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or his image and had not received his mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

5: (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection.

6: Blessed and holy are those who have part in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years.

*THE ANGEL WITH THE KEY TO BIND SATAN*

Angels are God's messengers sent to deliver judgment or reward. Following Christ's Victory over all his enemies at the battle of Armageddon [19: v15-21],

An Angel from heaven came with a key and chain and his authorised to bind Satan for a thousand years, vs.1&2.

Satan is bound, and cast into the bottomless pit and denied the power to deceive the nations of the earth for one thousand years.

During this period, believers who came out of the tribulation will be given life and granted authority to judge and rule the world with Christ, vs.4[see also, 1 Corinthians.6:2,3; Luke 19:17-19].

*QUESTION:* What can make anyone miss the joy of Christ's Victory over Satan at last?

*PRAYER:* Lord Jesus, on my pilgrim's Journey, let me always keep in my heart the truth that only Jesus has absolute Power over Satan and demons in Jesus' name, Amen.
