FG COMMITS TO IMPLEMENTING NIPSS SEC 47 REPORT, COMMENDS GOVERNOR MUTFWANG FOR SUSTAINING PEACE IN PLATEAU
Vice President Kashim Shettima has reaffirmed the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to the full implementation of the report and recommendations of the Senior Executive Course (SEC) 47 of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, as part of ongoing efforts to address Nigeria’s pressing national challenges.
Senator Shettima made this known on Saturday at the graduation ceremony of participants of the Senior Executive Course 47, Class of 2025, held at the Directorate of Studies Auditorium, NIPSS, Kuru. The course was undertaken with the theme: “Blue Economy and Sustainable Development in Nigeria: Issues, Challenges and Opportunities.”
The Vice President charged the graduands to remain intellectually engaged and continue to contribute meaningfully to national development by supporting policy formulation, offering honest feedback on implementation processes, and driving institutional reforms across critical sectors, particularly security, governance, and socio-economic development.
He noted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has demonstrated unwavering support for NIPSS’s transformation agenda, especially its vision to evolve into a digitally driven, financially sustainable, and globally recognised centre of excellence by the year 2030.
“His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has been unequivocal in his commitment to supporting NIPSS in its transformation agenda. We recognise the Institute’s critical role in shaping national policy and building the leadership capacity required to navigate an increasingly complex world.
“Our support must go beyond funding, infrastructure, and a conducive research environment. It must ensure that NIPSS produces implementation-ready policy papers and that its outputs are fully integrated into national decision-making and ex*****on frameworks,” the Vice President stated.
Senator Shettima commended Plateau State Governor, His Excellency Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, and the government and people of Plateau State for their sustained support to NIPSS, particularly in maintaining a peaceful and hospitable environment that enables the Institute to function optimally as a national asset.
According to him, the stability enjoyed in Plateau State has allowed NIPSS to thrive as a unique platform where diverse ideas and perspectives converge in the service of a shared national purpose.
The Vice President also applauded participants of Senior Executive Course 47 for their intellectual depth and commitment to addressing national security concerns, especially within the context of the blue economy.
“Your sustained and rigorous inquiries into Nigeria’s maritime and inland water domains continue to provide insights upon which the nation depends. Your research clearly shows that securing our waterways and coastlines goes beyond safety alone; it speaks to livelihoods, food security, environmental protection, and national cohesion.
“When young people are productively engaged, when communities trust the state, and when institutions work in synergy, insecurity loses its oxygen,” he added.
He assured the participants that the Tinubu administration places the highest premium on evidence-based policymaking, stressing that relevant ministries, departments, and agencies have been directed to give the SEC 47 report and recommendations the attention they deserve for both immediate application and long-term strategic planning.
In his remarks, Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang expressed appreciation to the Vice President for his consistent presence and support for NIPSS, describing him as a friend of the Institute.
The Governor reaffirmed Plateau State’s steadfast commitment to supporting the Federal Government and NIPSS in strengthening policy formulation and deepening evidence-based development across the country.
Governor Mutfwang also charged the graduands to distinguish themselves in their respective organisations by applying the knowledge and insights gained from the course to proffer practical solutions to contemporary national challenges for the collective good of the nation.
