If PDP goes into 2027 with two different presidential candidates… who actually loses?

29/06/2026

PDP, one party… two candidates? 🤔
We hit the streets to ask Nigerians: What does this faction mean for 2027?

Faction fight or strategy?
Can a divided house still win?
Your take decides.

I’ll free Nnamdi Kanu if I become president – Peter Obi

The 2027 presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has said he would release Nnamdi Kanu and engage separatist agitators in dialogue if elected president.

"I have said this over and over again, there is no reason for detaining Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. You cannot arrest somebody just because the person is speaking on radio. I am a politician, people have been calling me names. If I am in government today, I will discuss and engage with all agitators. I will free Nnamdi Kanu as president" - Peter Obi repeats" Peter Obi says during his recent visit to Washington, D.C.

Nigeria Records Split Demonstrations as Protest Continues Alongside Pro-Government Rally

Nigeria has witnessed opposing demonstrations over the last 48 hours as citizens expressed differing views on the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

On June 12, protesters gathered with banners reading _“Tinubu Must Go”_ and _“Bring Back Our Children From Kidnappers’ Captivity”_. They cited insecurity, kidnappings, and economic hardship as primary concerns. A smaller group remains on ground at low key, maintaining calls for government action on abducted students and civilians.

Today, a separate rally was held in support of the president. Participants carried placards backing the administration’s economic reforms and security strategy. Organizers described the turnout as solidarity with the government and urged patience with ongoing policy adjustments.

Security agencies were deployed to both locations to maintain order and ensure free movement of traffic. The two groups were kept apart and no clashes were reported.

Since 2023, Nigeria has seen protests over cost of living and insecurity, alongside rallies by groups expressing support for the administration’s policy direction.

Both groups say further engagements are planned in the coming days. The concurrent demonstrations reflect the divide in public opinion on the administration’s handling of security and the economy.
