What Looks Small Isn’t Always Light

You know those moments when someone sends a “small token”?
₦2,000 — just ₦2k, they say.

It’s easy to brush it off.

Spend several hours under the scorching sun, doing hard labour.

Iron about six shirts just to make it.

Haul multiple heavy loads through crowded markets as alábàru.

Ride a bike for hours, battling traffic and weather — trip after trip.

Clarification on ISBN Legitimacy and Our Publishing Process

Glit Publishers – Glit ITEC & Trade wishes to officially address some misunderstandings with regards to ISBN Legitimacy.

We want to make it very clear that we are not involved in any fraudulent or scam-related publishing activity. Our company is properly registered with all Federal and State Agencies and operates in line with national publishing standards. We are also licensed by the National Library of Nigeria, the only legal body for issuing ISBN.

All ISBNs (International Standard Book Numbers) used by Glit Publishers are legally obtained directly from the National Library headquarters in Kaduna. These numbers are 100% original, traceable, and recognized by the National Library.

Recently, we had a recorded conversation with the State Librarian and the Abuja Headquarters Office of the National Library. They clearly explained that:

1. It takes some time before new ISBNs appear on their website.

2. ISBNs purchased on their website can sometimes be instantly verified, but the website may experience glitches or delays.

3. When this happens, authors or publishers are advised to visit their office with proof of payment for immediate verification.

4. The officials also acknowledged that many self-publishing companies face the same issue of having to explain the delay in online ISBN verification to clients.

Therefore, if there is any doubt about an ISBN, we strongly recommend going to the National Library office for confirmation – many others do the same and get accurate results.

Sometimes, due to delays from the National Library in issuing ISBNs, some of our clients who are in a hurry to print or publish their books choose to use temporary ISBNs from international platforms like Amazon or Lulu. These platforms can generate valid ISBNs automatically for books published through them. While these ISBNs do not come from the Nigerian National Library, they are still globally recognized and valid.

In such cases, we help authors get a temporary ISBN through these channels, especially if they urgently need to print or distribute their book. Once the official ISBN from the National Library is ready, it can be added to the book or used in future editions. This option is offered only based on the author’s request and consent, and is a common, acceptable practice in independent publishing.
