Food Security: Kaduna Lawmaker, Ekene Adams, Donates 600 Bags Of Fertilizer To Farmers
Hon. Ekene Abubakar Adams has announced that no fewer than 600 bags of fertilizer will be distributed to farmers in his constituency to bolster agricultural produce and cushion the effects of food shortages and starvation in the area.
Ekene stated this in Kaduna during a roundtable meeting held to commemorate his one-year anniversary in office.
He mentioned that the initiative, part of his campaign promises, is a developmental project aimed at including every member of his constituency without any form of discrimination.
The lawmaker, represented by his Director General, Campaign Office, Mr. Ezekiel Samuel, was responding to an earlier request by a constituent member, Mr. Mikati Dennis, who urged the lawmaker not to focus solely on donating transformers but also to address the plight of farmers in the constituency.
In his response, Ekene revealed that provisions have been made for at least 600 bags of fertilizer, which will soon be distributed to constituents so they can take advantage of the rainy season and make food available for themselves and the community.
Abubakar, a member representing Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency and House Committee Chairman on Sports, Federal House of Representatives, also reiterated his unwavering support for indigent members of his constituency, adding that "support for farmers is crucial for food security and economic growth in the local community."
"This distribution of fertilizers will go a long way in improving crop yields and ultimately the income of farmers. It will also alleviate the financial burden of purchasing fertilizers and promote sustainable agricultural practices in the constituency," he said.
