TROOPS THWART TERRORIST ATTACK ON FOB KANGAR, MALLAM FATORI, ELIMINATE SCORES

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), Joint Task Force North East, have successfully thwarted a coordinated terrorist attack on Forward Operating Base (FOB) Kangar, located at Mallam Fatori in Borno State, in the early hours of Tuesday, 4 November 2025.

The attack, launched at about 0430hrs by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists, involved the use of armed drones and mortar fire targeting the defensive positions of the base. The troops, reinforced by the Main Force from the Battalion under Sector 3, displayed exceptional gallantry and tactical superiority to defeat the assault.

Despite the initial use of drones and indirect fire, the troops held their ground, engaging the terrorists in a fierce firefight supported by close air support from the Nigerien Fighter Ground Attack platforms.

The terrorists, overwhelmed by the superior firepower and coordination of the joint force, retreated in disarray into the waterways of the Tumbuns, evacuating several of their casualties.

A post-battle exploitation of the area confirmed the neutralisation of six terrorists and recovery of the following items: Five AK-47 rifles; Eight AK-47 rifle magazines; 258 rounds of 7.62mm x 39 ammunition; Five RPG bombs; Four armed drone bombs; Five 36-type hand grenades; Two bandoliers and One Android phone

Follow-on air interdiction by the Nigerian Air Force in conjunction with the Nigerien Air Force on the retreating terrorists further neutralised additional scores of the miscreants.

A few personnel of the Joint Task Force Operation HADIN KAI and some members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) sustained minor injuries during the engagement. They have since been evacuated by Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) platforms for medical attention and are all in stable condition. *TROOPS OF OPERATION WHIRL STROKE FOIL KIDNAPPERS PLOT, RESCUE TEN HOSTAGES IN BENUE*

Troops of Joint Task Force, Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS), have once again demonstrated professionalism and commitment to duty by thwarting a kidnapping attempt and rescuing ten victims from armed kidnappers in Benue State.

On 3 November 2025, troops deployed at Kyado, while on mobile patrol along Road Zaki-Biam–Wukari received credible intelligence about ongoing kidnapping activities at a location identified as Quarantine Checkpoint. The kidnappers were reported to be disguised in police uniforms attempting to deceive unsuspecting road users.

Upon receiving the information, the troops mobilized swiftly to the scene. On sighting the approaching soldiers, the kidnappers fled in disarray into nearby bushes. The troops immediately pursued the fleeing suspects, following their tracks deep into the forest. During the search operations, ten kidnapped victims were successfully rescued.

Among those rescued was Warrant Officer John Richard, a personnel of 6 Brigade Band, Jalingo, while two other victims are still unaccounted for as search operations continue. The rescued individuals were kept in safe custody and debriefed before being handed over to appropriate authorities for further action.

The Force Commander, Operation WHIRL STROKE, Major General Moses Gara, commended the troops for their gallantry, swift response, and commitment to protecting innocent citizens. He particularly lauded the tactical Commander for his exemplary leadership and proactive measures in combating criminal activities within the general area.

General Gara further assured the troops that, their sacrifices and dedication will never go unrewarded, urging them to sustain the tempo, maintain high morale, and continue to uphold the tenets of discipline and professionalism in all operations.

DEPOT NIGERIAN ARMY ZARIA HOLDS SMALL ARMS CHAMPIONSHIP, ALPHA COMPANY TAKES THE LEAD

The Depot Nigerian Army Zaria held a Small Arms Championship for the recruits of the 89 Regular Recruit Intake on October 27, 2025, at the Depot Range in Dogarawa, Zaria. Alpha Company emerged as the overall winner of the competition.

Major General OO Arongudade, the Special Guest of Honour, expressed his satisfaction with the recruits’ performances, noting that they have developed essential skills in weapon handling that will prepare them for military operations. He urged the recruits to continue improving on their weaknesses, as highlighted by their coaches, to enhance their overall performance.

Major General Arongudade also acknowledged the efforts of the Commandant Depot, Nigerian Army, and others involved in the training of the recruits, wishing them success in the upcoming ‘Exercise KUN GAMA.’

The event concluded with the presentation of medals to standout recruits and the winning companies, celebrating their achievements in the competition.

TROOPS OF OPERATION HADIN KAI NEUTRALISE TERRORISTS, RECOVER ARMS AMMUNUTIONS

Following the neutralization of over 50 terrorists in a previous encounter at Katarko axis, troops of Operation HADIN KAI in another encounter along Gamboru - Dikwa-Marte neutralized 10 additional Insurgents; Secured Weapons and Equipment.

MAIDUGURI, Nigeria – In a precision night operation, troops of Sector 1 from 24 Task Force Brigade Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) successfully defeated terrorist attempt to infiltrate into Gamboru Ngala from the Flatari axis. The miscreants subsequently diverted towards Dikwa after suffering casualties but were again ambushed and scores neutralized on the Dikwa-Marte road.

At approximately 23:50 hours on 25 October 2025, while manning a pre-established ambush position, the troops identified and engaged the hostile elements. The unit delivered heavy and accurate suppressive fire, forcing the insurgents to retreat in disarray.

At first light, following a period of limited visibility, the area was systematically exploited. The subsequent clearance operation confirmed a total of 10 insurgents had been neutralized. A thorough search of the vicinity led to the recovery of a significant cache of arms, ammunition, and equipment.

Recovered items include:

· Firearms: 5 x AK-47 rifles, One PKT Machine gun, 3 x locally-made (dane) guns, 2 x fabricated pistols.
· Ammunition: 5 x AK-47 magazines loaded with 7.62mm special rounds, huge cache of 7.62 x 54mm linked ammunition, boxes of cartridges.
· Equipment : 2 x motorcycles, 2 x bicycles, 1 x radio.
· Personal Effects : 1 x dane gun barrel, 1 x water flask, 1 x raincoat, 1 x blanket, and assorted charms.

TROOPS OF OPERATION HADIN KAI DEFEAT TERRORIST MULTIPLE ATTACKS ACROSS THE JOINT OPERATIONS AREA

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) with renewed vigour successfully defeated terrorist attacks on multiple locations across the Joint Operations Area in the early hours of today, 23 October 2025.

Between midnight and 0400 hours, the terrorists launched coordinated assaults on troops’ positions in Dikwa, Mafa, Gajibo, and Katarko, situated in Sector 1(Borno State) and Sector 2 (Yobe State) respectively. In all instances, troops stood firm, fought gallantly, and professionally repelled the attacks, dealing the terrorists a heavy decisive and bloody blow.

The coordinated offensive response was supported by air platforms of the Air Component Command of OPHK. The precision strikes, coupled with enhanced battlefield awareness provided by Theatre Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) assets, gave troops additional leverage and impetus to respond with overwhelming and lethal force.

The combined ground and air efforts resulted in the neutralisation of over 50 terrorists across all the locations. Troops also recovered 38 AK-47 rifles, 7 PKT machine guns, 5 RPG tubes, 2 GPMGs and hand grenades along with thousands of assorted belted and loose rounds of different calibres. Additionally, over 70 of the wounded miscreants are still being pursued by ground troops supported by the Air Component in close coordination.

Intelligence further revealed the terrorists who attacked Dikwa and Gajibo manoeuvred from the Cameroon axis, while those that attacked Katarko emerged from the Timbuktu Triangle, a known terrorist enclave.

Some of the gallant troops were wounded in action but are in stable condition. Some vehicles and buildings were also gutted by fire from the terrorists armed drones and RPG fire during the battle especially in Mafa and Dikwa where a part of the defences were momentarily breached.

NIGERIAN ARMY TROOPS RESCUE MORE KIDNAPPED VICTIMS...Continue Onslaught Against Bandits in Kwara State

Troops of 2 Division/Sector 3, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have sustained aggressive operations against bandits in Kwara State, leading to the successful rescue of three kidnapped victims at different locations within the Babanla Forest on Saturday, 11 October 2025.

Acting on credible intelligence, troops deployed at the Patrol Base Babanla swiftly mobilised to a suspected bandit hideout and rescued Mrs Oluwabusayo Taiwo, aged 25, and her 3 years old son, Taiwo Irayomide, who were among the victims abducted at Oke-Ode on 28 September 2025.
The rescued victims are currently receiving first aid treatment at the Patrol Base sick bay and will be reunited with their family members in due course.

In a similar development, troops while on routine patrol along a suspected bandit route, also rescued Mr Mohammadu Sani *_Mai Shayi_ ,* a 40 years old local tea seller from Garkarima. The bandits fled upon sighting the patrol team, abandoning the victim, who was found in a pool of blood. Troops recovered one dane gun and a cutlass from the scene. The victim is currently receiving medical attention at the Patrol Base sick bay.

The Commander, 22 Armoured Brigade, Brigadier General Ezra Barkins, commended the troops for their swift response and professionalism, while reaffirming that the Nigerian Army will remain committed towards ensuring the safety and security of all citizens and will continue to intensify operations aimed at restoring peace and stability across Kwara State and its environs.

TROOPS OF OPERATION HADIN KAI NEUTRALIZE 9 TERRORISTS DURING FIGHTING PATROLS AND RECOVERED ABOUT 5 MILLION RANSOM MONEY AT MAGUMERI AND GAJIRAM GENERAL AREAS OF BORNO STATE

In continuation of ongoing counter-terrorism operations in the North East, troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) conducted a successful fighting patrol in response to credible intelligence on the movement of Boko Haram terrorists around Goni Dunari in Magumeri LGA of Borno State on 10 October 2025.

The terrorists, reportedly moving on 2 vehicles and 24 foot fighters, were observed setting houses ablaze and terrorizing locals. Acting swiftly, own troops launched an aggressive fighting patrol to intercept the threat.

As troops advanced towards the objective, the terrorists attempted to flee towards Damjiyakiri village. Vehicle-borne fighters dispersed to an unknown location, while foot fighters were pursued over a distance of approximately 92 km.

After about 4 hours of tactical pursuit, troops established contact with the fleeing terrorists. A frontal attack was immediately launched, and troops engaged the terrorists with a heavy barrage of fire, resulting in the neutralization of 5 terrorists, while the remaining 19 dispersed in disarray. Some were wounded as blood trails were observed at the contact scene.

Items recovered from the engagement include:

1 x AK-47 rifle (Reg. No. 06798)

5 x Magazines (3 empty, 2 loaded)

31 x 7.62mm rounds

1 x Itel mobile phone

1 x Dagger

Notably, no casualties or equipment losses were recorded by OPHK troops during the operation.

In a similar development
along the Gajiram - Bolori - Mile 40 - Gajiganna axis, troops mounted on motorcycles, engaged Boko Haram fighters near Zundur village.
