Troops of Op FOREST SANITY III launched a fighting patrol from Maru LGA, Zamfara State, through Kaboro and Sangeko to Makuku and Dankolo in Kebbi State, based on intel on terrorist movement on 22 Jul 25.They linked up with forces at FOB Rijau and Warari, Niger State, and engaged terrorists in a firefight, neutralizing several and destroying 18 motorcycles. AK-47 rifles with loaded magazines were recovered. Sadly, one soldier paid the supreme price.
A follow-up on 23 Jul 25 led to more weapon and motorcycle recoveries. Troops remain on high alert amid reports of terrorist regrouping.

MNJTF TROOPS REPEL BOKO HARAM ATTACK IN CHAD, NEUTRALISE TERROR COMMANDER AND FIVE OTHERS

In a bold and coordinated response, troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), operating under Sector 2 at Koulfoua Island in the Lake Chad Region, successfully repelled a vicious attack launched by Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists. The engagement, which occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, 15 July 2025, resulted in the neutralization of a notorious Boko Haram commander, identified as Amir Dumkei, along with five other terrorists.

In a statement issued by Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, Chief Military Public Information Officer, Army MNJTF, the terrorist elements attempted to storm the MNJTF base near the bank of Koulfoua Island but were decisively overpowered by superior firepower and tactical positioning.

“Our troops responded with overwhelming force, employing precise artillery bombardments and coordinated ground fire to neutralize the threat. The terrorists were completely overwhelmed, and several others fled with gunshot wounds,” the statement read.

Following the encounter, troops recovered 9 AK-47 rifles, 3 boats, and a large cache of ammunition. The swift and lethal response prevented what could have been a major security breach in the Lake Chad region.

Pursuit and clearance operations are currently ongoing, with troops actively combing the surrounding areas to track down fleeing terrorists and secure the operational environment.

Reacting to the success, the Force Commander MNJTF, Major General Godwin Mutkut, commended the troops for their gallantry, discipline, and unwavering commitment to regional peace.

“This operation once again demonstrates the MNJTF’s resolve to confront terrorism head-on and restore stability to communities affected by violent extremism. I commend our troops for their bravery and professionalism,” he said.

The attention of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has been drawn to fraudulent messages circulating online, falsely claiming that the NAF has commenced recruitment for the 2025/2026 Basic Military Training Course (BMTC) and Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC). The Nigerian Air Force wishes to state that no such recruitment exercise is currently ongoing. The public is therefore advised to disregard these messages in their entirety.

We wish to remind the general public that the Nigerian Air Force recruitment and enlistment processes are free, transparent, and merit-based. The NAF does not charge any fee at any stage of its recruitment exercise, and does not engage third parties or agents for enlistment. Whenever a recruitment exercise is to be conducted, it will be officially announced and widely publicised through credible national dailies, the NAF official website, and its verified social media platforms.

We therefore urge members of the public to be wary of online scams and exercise extreme caution when coming across unofficial recruitment advertisements.
