INVITATION TO THE MAIDEN EDITION OF FCT SPELLING BEE COMPETITION

Dear Directors, Principals, Schools Admin, Parents, Guidance and Counselors,

We are thrilled to invite your students to participate in the inaugural FCT Spelling Bee Competition! This exciting event aims to promote literacy, vocabulary, and healthy competition among students.

We cordially invite your school to join this prestigious event, designed to provide an enriching experience for your students. Our goal is to help improve their spelling and vocabulary skills, fostering a lifelong love of learning.

The competition is organized by Today Child Education and Skills Initiative, in conjunction with Kada City Interschools Competition (KCIC), renowned for hosting the annual Kaduna State Spelling Bee for the past seven years.

FCT Spelling Bee Competition Categories: We are excited to announce that the FCT Spelling Bee Competition will feature two categories:
Category 1: Junior Spellers (Ages 7-11)
a) Open to students aged 7-11
b) Designed to promote early literacy and vocabulary skills
Category 2: Senior Spellers (Ages 12-15)
a) Open to students aged 12-15
b) Designed to challenge advanced spellers and promote excellence in language skills
Participants will compete within their respective age categories, ensuring a fun and fair competition for all.

Registration Details
1. Dateline: Registration is currently ongoing and will close on 7th June, 2025.
2. Participating Fee: N10, 000.00 per Participant (Covering Spelling Bee materials (Spelling It Now Booklet), and certificate of participation)

4. Payment: Payment should be made directly on the website or through the bank account details provided on our website registration link page.
5. Evidence of Payment: Forward evidence of payment to the management on this WhatsApp number: 07083338840.
6. Dates and Venues: To Be Announced First Week of July. 2025

Provision for less Privilege: Today Child Education and Skills Initiative is offering free slots to all schools, especially those that cannot afford to register their students due to financial constraints. This opportunity allows one talented student from each interested school to participate in the Maiden Edition of the FCT Spelling Bee competition. To Register, Fill the Scholarship for on our website.

Group States: The group stages of the competition will cover the six Area Councils of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, which are, Area Councils:
1. Abaji Area Council
2. Bwari Area Council
3. Gwagwalada Area Council
4. Kuje Area Council
5. Kwali Area Council
6. Municipal Area Council

Group Stage Format:
1. Group allocation: Teams will be allocated to each Area Council
2. Competition: Spellers s will compete against each other within their allocated group
3. Winners: The top ten (10) best from each group will advance to the final stage of the competition

Proposed Dates for the Competition: We are pleased to announce the proposed dates for the competition:
1. June: Two Saturday (14th, 28th June 2025)
2. July: Four Saturdays (5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th July 2025)

Venues: The venues for the competition will be communicated separately. We will ensure that all participants are informed of the venues in due course.

Final Competition Details: The final format of the competition is scheduled for Wednesday, 1st October 2025:
1. Date: Wednesday, 1st October 2025
2. Venue: A suitable venue will be communicated to participants
3. Qualifiers: The top 10 qualifiers from each of the six Area Councils will participate, making a total of 60 pupils/students

What to Expect:
1. Exciting competition: The final round promises to be an exciting and closely contested event
2. Talented participants: The best young spellers from across the six Area Councils will gather to showcase their skills

Categories and Winners:
1. Age categories: 7-11 and 12-15 years old
2. Winners: The top performers in each age category will be crowned winners

This boy was carrying his dead brother on his back to bury him In Japan, during the war. A soldier noticed him and asked him to throw away the dead child so that he would not get tired. The boy replied: He's not heavy, that's my brother!" The soldier understood and broke down in tears. Since then, this image has become a symbol of unity in Japan.
Let this be our motto too in 2025:
“He's not heavy. He's my brother...She's my sister!"
If he falls, raise him up.
If he backslides, restore him.
If he gets tired, help him.
If he needs support stand with him.
If he makes a mistake, correct him.
And if the world abandons him, then carry him like God has been carrying you, He's surely not heavy.
Because he is my brother or she is my sister!

Regardless of age, a physical/medical examination is required every year. For individuals who have specific health issues or are at risk for certain conditions, this exam is advised to be more frequent.

The annual medical examination is a preventive care strategy that provides the first line of defense against any unforeseen medical issues.

A typical check-up would include reviewing health history, family history, performing physical examinations, and conducting specific tests. These tests may include Blood pressure, Cholesterol, Blood glucose level, and Body mass index (BMI). A physical examination can help determine one's health status

The benefits of an annual checkup include:

1. Prevention of future health complications
Having an appointment for an annual check would ensure any possible ailment is diagnosed and treated before symptoms even appear. Thereby, giving way to early intervention and prevention of any health issues that you are currently at risk for.

2. Economic benefits
Health is expensive. It is therefore better to spend little to prevent than spend much to treat. Detecting a disease or the risk of disease early at an appointment would allow for immediate treatment and/or preventive mechanisms in no time.

3. Update vaccinations
At annual checkups, your immunization history is reviewed, as the shielding effects of some vaccines wear out after a certain period, while some require multiple doses to ensure full protection.

4. Receive professional opinion
Check up foster open communication with your doctor to share information about your symptoms and overall health.
