2025 INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL CHILD.
Theme: “The Girl I Am, The Change I Lead: Girls on the Frontlines of Crisis.”
In the heart of our communities, where many girls wake before dawn to fetch water, help at home, and still dream of sitting in a classroom, we came together to celebrate her: the girl child.
She is not just a daughter; she is a leader in the making. She faces barriers of poverty, silence, and expectation, yet she rises, learns, and dares to dream.
Last Thursday, 09th October, I led some of my colleagues and friends to mark the 2025 International Day of the Girl Child. We held the celebration at Government Secondary School, Lere (Lere West) and Girls’ College of the Beatitudes, Saminaka (Lere East), where hundreds of young girls gathered with hope in their eyes and courage in their hearts.
From inspiring talks on menstrual health, hygiene, and self-worth, to the distribution of free sanitary pads and food items, the message was clear: every girl deserves dignity, education, and opportunity.
As a Local Government, we reaffirm our commitment to creating a future where no girl is left behind, where every girl can learn, lead, and lift others.
I deeply appreciate His Excellency Senator Uba Sani the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, whose vision for girl-child education and women’s empowerment continues to inspire progress in every corner of our state and to my Boss Hon. Jafaru Ahmed, the Executive Chairman of Lere for his support and guidance.
To all individuals and groups who supported me during the celebration of this great day, I said thank you and may God bless you all.
Today, I stand with every girl of Lere LGA and beyond to say:
You are not forgotten.
You are the change we need.
You are the light of tomorrow.
Happy International day of the Girl Child.
Hon. Kalen Ephraim Audu. PhD.
Vice Chairman Lere LGA.
