We cannot normalize the public display and consumption of harmful substances — especially on social media where children are watching. What message are we sending to the next generation?
First it was “Hypo,” now it’s “Sniper.” This pattern is deeply disturbing. Taking harmful substances is NOT a form of mental health support, and it should never be portrayed as entertainment or a cry for attention online.
Authorities have reportedly been alerted — including the Commissioner of Police, the Rapid Response Team in Lagos State, and the Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Youth Development. The matter has also been escalated to Abuja.
This is bigger than one person — it’s about the standards we allow in our media space.
We must protect our children.
We must speak up.
We must not normalize self-harm.
