This lady left Christianity for Islam.
According to her, no one forced her. She simply listened to some lectures about Islam and saw what she called “beauty” in it.
She made the decision. She chose to marry a Muslim. And her father gave his full support.
But that story reminded me of something.
There was a time in school when I was truly hungry and broke.
From nowhere, this guy showed up. Bobo was his name (I don't know his real name because I never asked). Tall and fair.
He took interest in me and was willing to give me everything I lacked.
He dropped me off in my department or in front of my hostel a few times.
But there was a condition: I had to revert to Islam.
He spoke well.
He sounded almost convincing.
He looked almost genuine.
He promised me things I couldn’t afford for myself, and the temptation was real. Very real.
But deep down, I knew something.
My father would never bless that journey.
And more importantly I would never have peace in it.
So while he spoke one evening, I sat quietly. Not just listening but thinking.
I kept asking myself “What will be the reason?”
He wasn’t forceful.
He was calm.
He gently explained what he believed was the beauty in Islam.
But I had already encountered Jesus. And once you truly encounter Him, it becomes impossible to trade that relationship for anything else, no matter how attractive it looks on the surface.
Something became very clear to me afterwards.
There is a huge difference between being born into a Christian home and actually knowing Jesus.
Christianity is not having some cute Hebrew/Bible names.
If you don’t know Him for yourself, everything will start to look like the truth.
You will be easily swayed. Easily confused.
Because when conviction is absent, anything that sounds good can feel right.
But when you truly know Jesus, it’s not just about religion anymore it becomes a relationship you cannot casually walk away from.
Sis, if you jump once inside that well (marriage), you will have to jump a million times and you won't still come out.
Parents, beyond every good gift you will give your children, pray that they will encounter Jesus and experience Him personally.
May the Spirit of truth- Holy Spirit guide you at all times.
