SNAKE BITE A DAY TO MY JAMB
It was on a faithful day, my then secondary school gave us permission to go home so we can go write Jamb the following day. I had an arrangement with a friend of mine that I was going to come pick her up from home to my mother's saloon so we could get our hairs done for jamb. On reaching her house, grandma told me that my friend has left for the saloon. So I took a u turn with three other people I was walking with. Few minutes later as I was walking, I felt a sharp pain on my foot. Something pierced into melike a sharp needle. I responded by saying what kind of nail pierced me this badly and I turned to see the nail, only to see a short snake running away from me. It then dawn on me that the sharp pain I felt was a snake bite. I began to scream and run round the compound. A snake has beaten me.
Grandma ran out with a head tie and tied my leg with it. A Police man who saw the incident quickly ran to me and tied my legs with his shoe lace...Omo it was not longer the pain of the snake bite that became my problem but the pain of the shoe lace tied on my legs.
The man quickly got his bike and took me to a traditionalist who was known for treating cases of snake bites..
My parents where immediately called and told the location I was.
When my Dad came, he came along with the blood of sprinklings..winners will understand this better. He dropped off his bike and began to spray the blood of sprinkling on me and he was praying saying " I will never bury any of my children" I was even laughing at my Dad because I was so ignorant of what was going on.
I met a little girl at the traditionalist house who sat close to me and was telling me how other people died from snake bite and I became scared a bit but I had a strong conviction in me that my fathers prayer will work.
The traditionalist cut the place I was beaten by the snake and placed a black stone on it. He went to the bush, cut some plants roots and gave me to chew them raw and swallow.
