So a lot of people have been asking me for update on the 1bn loan that the Kaduna State Enterprise Development Agency is partnering with Smedan to give to Kaduna based businesses and i decided to visit Hon. Iliya Anthony Timbuark at his office today.

The loan is going to be distributed to SMEs in all 23 local government areas of Kaduna State in a free and fair selection process that i will explain in subsequent posts.

Also, for those that asked if you’d need to have a CAC certificate before you can apply, the answer is No!

It is also going to be open to both people that have existing businesses and start-ups. So if you have a business idea and what you need is funding, be ready to apply.

Thank you so much Honourable for your time and for patiently answering all my questions.

Meanwhile, why my eyes dey red biko?

This community is called Wawa Rafi, a rural settlement in Zangon Kataf Local Government, Kaduna State.

The phrase "Wawa Rafi," meaning "Foolish River" in Hausa, reflects the frustration and concerns of the community when their local river failed to provide water. This highlights the severe water crisis impacting Wawa Rafi.

Since the river is not bringing forth clean and portable water, we have had to improvise by providing the community with a solar powered borehole to meet this all-important need.

Thanks to Bernadette & Gordon Labat for donating this very important resource. They want it named Jason's Well to honor their son, Jason.

The community is grateful to Bernadette & Gordon for this great gift and praying the Lord to bless and reward them.

When I sent pictures and videos of the borehole to the donors, they wrote back thus:

"Fr Williams: Thanx for the photos of the well. I sent them onto my kids. You brought us great joy by sharing the joy in the village - B/G Labat"

We congratulate Wawa Rafi and pray that other communities badly afflicted by this lack will soon find good Samaritans who will bring succor to their communities.

The only thing that matters is faith working through love - Galatians 5:6.

OFFICIAL INTRODUCTION

My dearest Facebook family,

What can I say but... thank you truly. The support, the messages, the tags, the prayers. It's been overwhelming in the most beautiful way.

Now that the big reveal is out of the bag and I’m gradually settling in the Big Brother Naija House as BigSoso, allow me to introduce myself properly.

I am Sonia Amako — a proud Kaduna daughter, a trained legal mind, a passionate chef who tells the Southern Kaduna stories through their spices, and founder of Soso Yan’Mata Healthcare Empowerment Foundation, a mission committed to uplifting underserved and underrepresented girls across Northern Nigeria.

In this space, I represent more than just the roots you may know me from. From the lovely traditional tie-and-dye ajesuda of the Gbagyi people, to the elegance of Ham, Jju and Tyap embroidery, every outfit I wear, every step I take in that House is for every Northern girl who was told to dim her light but still chose to shine.

Here, ethnicity may introduce me, but unity defines me. So to every tribe not just in Kaduna but across our dear nation, to every sister and brother cheering me on, know that I carry you with me. I carry your kindness, your encouragement, your hopes.

I don’t want to walk this journey alone; that’s why I have the SosoLights — a family of light, love, and quiet power. When the voting begins, I’ll need you more than ever. I promise to walk with you step-by-step and make it easy for you to support me in this journey.

But beyond the game, I remain Sonia Amako or Chef Soso, committed to using my platform to feed, nurture, and empower. Let’s show the world what grace, purpose, and soft power looks like in Croc City.

Tap the link in my bio, follow my journey across all my social media handles, and vote when the time comes.

Thank you for walking with me. This is only the beginning.

With love,
BigSoso

Kudan LG To Make Health Insurance Mandatory For Couples, Political Aspirants

The Chairman of Kudan Local Government Area in Kaduna State, Dauda Abba, has proposed making health insurance enrollment a prerequisite for marriage and political candidacy within the LGA.

Abba announced this initiative on Monday at the Kudan LGA Secretariat during the inauguration of the informal sector enrollment campaign by the Kaduna State Contributory Health Management Authority (KADCHMA).

He explained that requiring couples to present KADCHMA enrollment cards before getting married would not only ensure access to quality healthcare but also boost participation in the health insurance scheme.

The campaign, supported by the EngenderHealth Consortium, International Society for Media in Public Health, Centre for Communication and Social Impact, and Legislative Advocacy Initiative for Sustainable Development Goals, will expand across all 23 LGAs in Kaduna State. Kagarko and Chikun LGAs will also host similar events.

Abba emphasized that pregnant women, in particular, would benefit from the scheme, which covers antenatal care, delivery, and postnatal services—even in cases involving complications. The annual enrollment fee of ₦10,650 covers a wide range of healthcare services, offering financial protection and reducing maternal mortality rates.

In a move to institutionalize the policy, Abba said he would present an Executive Order to the local legislative council to enact a by-law mandating KADCHMA enrollment for both intending couples and political office aspirants. He noted that the draft law could be ready in two to three weeks.

He pledged to enroll 1,000 people initially, with plans to add another 1,000 after successful implementation. The chairman also called on traditional and religious leaders to support the initiative by raising awareness among residents.

Speaking at the event, KADCHMA Director-General Abubakar Hassan reiterated the scheme’s goal of providing accessible and affordable healthcare without financial strain. He said the awareness campaign targeted grassroots communities to educate them on the scheme’s benefits and gain the support of traditional leaders and local authorities.

Hassan lamented high maternal mortality rates and pointed out that over 50 women have already given birth through cesarean section under the scheme. He described the health initiative as central to Governor Uba Sani’s Rural Transformation Agenda, which focuses on reaching underserved populations in rural areas.

“Health is no longer a privilege in Kaduna State but a right,” Hassan declared, urging stakeholders to act as enrollment ambassadors and integrate the initiative into community development plans.

Also speaking, Halliru Mahmood, District Head of Kudan, praised Governor Sani for launching the program, which he said would offer financial protection and improve access to healthcare. Mahmood noted that the ₦10,650 fee is a small cost compared to the potential life-saving benefits.

The event was attended by various community stakeholders including volunteers, ward development committees, and religious leaders.

Today, we remember a man whose name still echoes through the hearts of Southern Kaduna and beyond
Late Mr. Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa, the first civilian governor from Southern Kaduna, a true servant of the people.
Yakowa was more than a leader
He was a symbol of unity, humility, and peace.
A man who rose through the ranks with quiet strength and an unshakable character.
In a political climate often marred by division, he led with grace breaking barriers and building bridges.
He carried the hope of a people long forgotten
A dreamer who made his people dream again.
A voice for the voiceless, a light in the dark corridors of power.
And even in leadership, he remained unchanged — humble, soft-spoken, yet firm in justice and equity.
His passing left a deep wound not just in Southern Kaduna,
but in the very soul of Nigeria.
Yet, even in death, his legacy lives on
A legacy that reminds us:
True leadership isn’t found in noise or power, but in service.
Patrick Yakowa showed us that it is possible.
He lives on in our hearts, in our hopes,
and in every son and daughter of Southern Kaduna who dares to believe.

Gone… but never forgotten.

In a continued effort to promote education and human capital development, the Executive Chairman of Chikun Local Government Area, Engr. Salasi Nuhu Musa, has launched a new phase of his Students Support Program, awarding scholarships worth ₦10 million to 250 students across the LGA.

The scholarship initiative, which began in 2022 with 50 beneficiaries, has grown steadily under Engr. Salasi’s leadership. In 2023 and 2024, 200 students received support each year, culminating in this year’s expanded outreach to 250 students.

The Executive Governor of Kaduna State,
Senator Uba Sani,
Kaduna State Government House,
Kaduna.

Dear Governor Sani,

Concerns about Abandoned Abundant 1km Road in Kpak Kagoro, Kaura Local Government

I am writing to express my deep disappointment and frustration regarding the Abundant 1km road in Kpak Kagoro, Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State, which has been abandoned for over two years now. Despite promises of development and progress, this crucial infrastructure project remains incomplete, causing immense hardship to the residents of Kpak Kagoro and surrounding communities.

The road's poor condition has significantly impacted the local economy, as traders and farmers struggle to transport their goods to markets. Moreover, the road's deterioration poses serious safety risks to travelers, particularly during the rainy season.

Request for Urgent Action

Given the significance of this road to the local community, I respectfully request that your administration takes immediate action to:
- Assess the current state: Conduct a thorough assessment of the road's condition to determine the necessary repairs or reconstruction work.
- Allocate resources: Provide adequate funding to complete the project and ensure its timely completion.
- Assign a project team: Designate a team to oversee the project's completion and ensure accountability.

Conclusion

I believe that your leadership can bring about positive change and development to Kaduna State. I urge you to prioritize the completion of the Abundant 1km road in Kpak Kagoro, which will undoubtedly improve the lives of the local residents and contribute to the state's overall growth.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to seeing progress on this project.

Sincerely,

[SALEH IDRIS].
