Birnin-Gwari Group Commends CDS, Raises Concern Over Detention Of Army Captain

The Birnin-Gwari Vanguard for Security and Good Governance has commended the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, for his unwavering commitment to tackling banditry and terrorism in Northern Nigeria and other security-challenged areas.

The group, in a statement signed by its Chairman, Ibrahim Abubakar Nagwari, on Friday, lauded the CDS’s directive to security forces to eliminate terrorists and their collaborators without waiting for clearance from Abuja.

However, the group expressed concern over the detention and arraignment of Captain M. Abubakar, popularly known as Singham, over the alleged killing of a suspected terrorist informant, Dangwari, at Udawa along the Birnin-Gwari–Kaduna highway.

According to the statement, both the District Head and the Imam of Udawa had confirmed Dangwari’s activities with terrorists.

The group noted that Captain Abubakar, who was celebrated for liberating Udawa, Kuriga, and Birnin-Gwari from the grip of terrorists, was now being prosecuted for carrying out the mandate given to security forces.

“This unfortunate situation risks dampening the morale of our gallant officers and men who continue to make immense sacrifices to secure our nation,” the statement read.

The group called on the CDS to urgently review the matter to ensure justice, while also urging military authorities to avoid any action that could undermine the dedication and courage of security personnel.

Residents Plead for Help as Flood Ravages Southern Kaduna Community
Residents of Manchok in Moro’a Chiefdom, Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State, are appealing to both federal and state authorities for urgent relief after devastating floods swept through their community.
The disaster, caused by three days of uninterrupted rainfall, destroyed houses, farmlands, and plantations, leaving many families displaced and uncertain about their future.
A local farmer, Luka Ishaya, lamented the loss of his livelihood.
The continuous rains, instead of being a blessing, have turned into destruction. It is heartbreaking, he said.
Youth leader, Moses Mathew, noted that the damage could have been reduced if drainage systems had been functional. He explained that community youths have now resorted to manually clearing blocked drains and digging makeshift channels while awaiting government support.
Although no lives were lost, the residents of Manchok continue to grapple with the severe destruction left in the wake of the flood.

Lere Communities Decry Abandonment Of Pambegua–Saminaka–Jos Road

Residents of Lere and adjoining communities have raised alarm over the worsening state of the Pambegua–Saminaka–Jos Road, describing it as a “death trap” that has claimed lives, destroyed property, and hampered economic activities across the region.
The road, regarded as a major economic corridor linking Nigeria’s North-West and North-Central regions, serves farmers, traders, transporters, students, and security agencies. However, its prolonged neglect has left commuters stranded and local businesses struggling.
In a statement issued by the Lere Concerned Youths Forum (LCYF), the group expressed disappointment that despite repeated government budgetary allocations amounting to billions of naira, the road remains in deplorable condition.
“This vital highway has become a direct threat to safety and development. Billions have been announced for this project, yet nothing tangible is on the ground,” the group stated.
The LCYF also called out the Federal Government, the Ministry of Works, and the contractor handling the project, Setraco, demanding answers to three critical questions:
1. Why has construction work stopped?
2. When will it resume?
3. What concrete timeline exists for completion?
The group warned that silence is no longer an option, insisting that government must take immediate action to rehabilitate the road and restore economic activity in the region.
“Our demand is simple: Fix this road. Save our lives. Revive our economy,” the statement concluded.

NEMA Rescues Two, Provides Relief Materials To Flood Victims In Kaduna

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Kaduna Operations Office, has rescued two elderly persons who were trapped following a building collapse caused by recent flooding in Kaduna State.
The rescue operation, conducted in collaboration with the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (KADSEMA), the Red Cross, the Federal and State Fire Services, and other stakeholders, led to the safe evacuation of an elderly man at Bashama Road, Tudun Wada, and an elderly woman at Kigo Road, Kaduna North Local Government Area. The woman was later reunited with her family in Kabala Costain.
The flooding, triggered by heavy rainfall last Thursday, displaced hundreds of residents and destroyed numerous homes and properties. The worst-hit communities include those along River Kaduna and its tributaries, such as Kigo Road, Bashama Road, Kinkinau, Malali, Ramat Road, and Rafin Guza.
Hundreds of displaced persons, particularly from Tudun Wada, are currently taking refuge at a temporary camp set up at the Arc. Namadi Sambo Skills Acquisition Centre, near the Children’s Hospital, Tudun Wada. The camp houses mostly women—including pregnant and breastfeeding mothers—children, and persons with disabilities.
To ease their hardship, NEMA has distributed emergency relief materials, including mattresses, blankets, and mosquito nets, to displaced families at the camp.
Speaking during the intervention, the Head of NEMA Kaduna Operations Office, Malam Suleiman Mohammed, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to coordinating efforts with relevant stakeholders to mitigate the impact of the disaster and ensure timely humanitarian support to affected communities.

So a lot of people have been asking me for update on the 1bn loan that the Kaduna State Enterprise Development Agency is partnering with Smedan to give to Kaduna based businesses and i decided to visit Hon. Iliya Anthony Timbuark at his office today.

The loan is going to be distributed to SMEs in all 23 local government areas of Kaduna State in a free and fair selection process that i will explain in subsequent posts.

Also, for those that asked if you’d need to have a CAC certificate before you can apply, the answer is No!

It is also going to be open to both people that have existing businesses and start-ups. So if you have a business idea and what you need is funding, be ready to apply.

Thank you so much Honourable for your time and for patiently answering all my questions.

Meanwhile, why my eyes dey red biko?
