Troops Repel Terrorist Attack in Kukareta, Kill 24 The Joint Task Force of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) commanding the second zone, successfully repelled a major attack by terrorists in Kukareta area on Wednesday night to Thursday morning.
The attack, which began shortly after midnight and ended at around 3:00 a.m., was met with resistance from troops who responded, forcing the attackers to flee after suffering heavy casualties.
In a statement issued by the Army Public Relations Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba on April 23, 2026, the troops said that 24 terrorists were killed during the encounter.
Furthermore, the search conducted by the troops at the scene after the dust settled led to the recovery of a large quantity of weapons left behind by the terrorists, including 18 AK-47 rifles, 3 GPMG rifles, 2 PKT rifles, 3 RPG rifles, 2 Mortar rifles, 4 hand grenades and a large quantity of ammunition.
The statement added that two soldiers were injured during the exchange of fire and have been assessed and are in stable condition.
In addition, one tank suffered a punctured tire while on the way to the scene. Meanwhile, the troops are continuing to track down the terrorists who escaped with their injuries, with traces of blood and medical supplies seen on the roads they took during their escape.
This victory further confirms the military's commitment to suppressing any terrorist activity in the North-East, with the force vowing to continue the pressure until it ends terrorist activities in the entire region.
