Have you ever experienced a bad boss?
“We’re not just a company, we’re a family.” 😂🤦♂️
But somehow, the only thing this “family” shares is unpaid salaries and emotional damage.
They’ll pitch you the dream: “We’re building something big! The next Apple, the next Tesla!”Meanwhile, the only thing growing is the founder’s lifestyle and maybe the office bean bag collection.
Let’s be honest, some CEOs act like seed funding was their personal reward for “having the idea.” The team? Oh, just the unpaid interns of destiny.
You’re working 14-hour days, missing sleep, missing lunch, and missing your own dreams, all while the founder is shopping new apartments and vacationing
Simon Sinek told a story of a CEO whose company was about to crash. Instead of pulling a disappearing act, he told his staff the truth: “We’re in trouble, but I don’t want to lay anyone off.” So he asked everyone to take a few unpaid leave days to help spread the burden. The response? People volunteered *more days than required, because they believed in him.
Moral of the story? People don’t quit bad jobs. They quit shady leadership.
So if you’re a founder:
✨Pay your people.
✨Be transparent.
✨Stop buying sneakers with seed money.
And if you’re a creative:
Ask yourself, are you in a partnership, or just working for exposure and pizza?
