On behalf of the Association Of Community Health Students of Nigeria (ACHSN) Kano State Chapter, I am delighted to extend our heartfelt felicitations to Alhaji Bashir Idris, PhD, Lifidin Jama'a on his reappointment as Registrar/CEO of the Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria (CHPRBN) for a second tenure.

CHPRBN Meets World Bank National Coordinator Discusses Human Resources Development Drive To Universal Health Coverage.

The Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria has taken a significant step towards transforming the community health profession. The Registrar/CEO, Dr. Bashir Idris, PhD, met with Dr. Rikgat Gyado, Senior Health Specialist and Representative of the World Bank, to discuss bold reforms aimed at improving healthcare delivery and access across Nigeria.

Their discussion focused on addressing ongoing human resources challenges in the sector, with the Registrar seeking World Bank intervention in recruiting community health practitioners. These practitioners are uniquely equipped to work in any community, regardless of social status.

Both parties emphasized the need for reforms that would improve efficiency, expand access, and ensure sustainable human resources solutions for Nigeria's growing population. The Registrar appreciated the World Bank's willingness to support the Community Health Board.

This collaboration aligns with the World Bank's commitment to helping countries achieve universal health coverage (UHC) through stronger, more resilient health systems. The World Bank aims to support countries in delivering quality.

CHPRBN Achieves another Milestone: Strategic Reinstatement of Community Health Programme at National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) Through Visionary Leadership

In a groundbreaking development that underscores his visionary leadership and resolute commitment to advancing community health education in alignment with global best practices, the Registrar/CEO of CHPRBN, Dr Bashir Idris (Lifidin Jama'a), has successfully championed the moves of reinstating the Community Health Programme at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN). This landmark achievement marks yet another milestone in his distinguished career as a goal-oriented and transformative leader, further cementing his legacy as the most accomplished Registrar/CEO in the annals of the Board.

The reinstatement of the Community Health Programme, a critical initiative designed to address Nigeria's pressing healthcare challenges, was set in motion following a high-level consultative meeting between CHPRBN and NOUN. The meeting, held on Monday, 10th March 2025, at Conference Room 1 of the University, brought together key stakeholders to deliberate on the strategic modalities for the programme's revival and its alignment with contemporary academic and professional standards.

The CHPRBN delegation was led by Prof. Gimbason D. Mairafi, accompanied by Mr. Fajuko B. Emmanuel, Abbas J. Kazurawa, Mr. Charles O. Okapor, Dr Yohanna Wamanyi, and El-Muqaddas ABBA, who served as Secretary. Representing NOUN, the Vice Chancellor was ably represented by Prof. Elkenah C. Ndie, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, alongside Heads of the Nursing Science, Public Health, and Environmental Health Science Departments, as well as administrative staff.

The discussions centred on the harmonization of academic standards, the modalities for reinstating and modifying the Bachelor of Science in Community Health (BSc CH) to a Bachelor of Community Health Science (BCHS) Programme, and the introduction of postgraduates.

Alhaji Bashir Idris, PhD, Lifidin Jama'a, Registrar/CEO of the Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria, paid a condolence visit to the Honourable Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. IZIAQ ADEKUNLE SALAKO who lost his mother, Alhaja Safiat Asabi Salako at Yewa North LG Saala Ayetoro, Ogun State. He was accompanied by the zonal Technical officer of the southwest Mr. Abayomi and some Practitioners from the zone.

During the visit, Alhaji Bashir offered prayers for Allah's mercy and a peaceful final resting place for the deceased. He also extended condolences to the family, praying for their strength and fortitude during this difficult time.

This compassionate gesture reflects Alhaji Bashir's commitment to empathy and respect, demonstrating his dedication to supporting others in their time of need.

*CHPRBN Registrar/CEO, Lead Delegation to pay Respects and Prayer to Late Tutor Hajiya Maryam In Minna, Niger State*

Dr Alhaji Bashir Idris, Lifidin Jama'a, led a heartfelt delegation from the Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria (CHPRBN) to pay respects to the Late Tutor Hajiya Maryam's family in Minna, Niger State. The visit was a poignant gesture to honour the late Hajiya Maryam, who tragically passed away during the Qualifying National Examination in Jega, Kebbi State.

The Registrar/CEO, Alhaji Bashir Idris and his team visited the Newgate College Of Health and condoled the Management because the deceased was the HOD before her demised

The delegation also visited Late Hajiya Maryam's ancestral home in Izom, Niger State, which was a powerful display of solidarity and compassion. They offered sincere prayers, seeking Allah's mercy and blessings for the deceased, and prayed that Aljanah (Paradise) be her final abode.

This moving tribute brought together community leaders and members to support the late Hajiya Maryam's family during their time of grief.

The family of Late Maryam expressed deep gratitude to the CHPRBN leadership and members for their prayers, concern, and support. This outpouring of love and kindness is a testament to the impact the late Hajiya Maryam had on her community.

The Registrar/CEO, Dr. Bashir Idris Lifidin Jama'a of Community Health Board and its members are deeply saddened by the loss of Hajiya Maryam a HOD from New Gate Minna, Niger State Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your loved ones during this difficult time.

Hajiya Maryam was a valued member of our profession (community Health), and her contributions to the profession and health of our residents will never be forgotten. Her dedication, compassion, and selflessness inspired countless individuals.

May the legacy of Hajiya Maryam continue to inspire us to strive for better health outcomes and stronger community bonds. May you find comfort and May Aljannah be her Final Abode. Amin

*NACHPN CONSOLES WITH THE FAMILIES, COLLEAGUES AND INSTITUTIONS OF DECEASED STUDENTS*

It is with great shock that a heartbreaking news on the sudden death of two registered candidates for the ongoing 2024 CHPRBN National Examinations for Community Health Students across the country was received in the late hours of Friday, 4th October, 2024.

It saddens our heart to recall that having fulfilled all requirements for the qualifying exams, the duo of Adedayo Adewale "male" of foreign link college of Health Technology Ife North, Osun State and Lawal Firdausi Idris "female" of Emirate College of Health Science and Technology Kano could not live to witness the qualifying examination.

Report had it that, Adedayo was in a healthy state until his involvement in a fatal road traffic accident on Friday evening while on the way to school in preparation for the examination, while Firdausi was said to have suffered an acute illness; secondary to complicated malaria and died the same Friday.

Knowing how grief comes in waves, Comrade Kabir Yahya Ahmed, the President National Association of Community Health Practitioners of Nigeria feels the pains and headaches imposed on all by the sudden death, hereby sending condolences on behalf of the entire Community Health Practitioners to the family and colleagues of the deceased as well as managements of their respective institutions.

Condolences are often registered with Dr. Bashir Idris _Lifidin Jama'a,_ the Registrar CEO Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria and the National Executive Council, Association of Community Health Students of Nigeria whom we co-navigate through this difficult time.

It is my prayers that God Almighty should ease our pains and grant the deceased families fortitude to bear this tragic loss.
