THERE'S MORE TO LIFE

I find myself lost in thought, asking: Was I created merely to come to earth, hustle for food, shelter, clothing, and possessions—only to one day fall and return to dust, just as the first Adam did?

Was this the reason God called a meeting and decided to create me in His image and likeness?

Genesis 1:26
"Then God said, 'Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness.'"

Could it be that God made man in His image just to toil endlessly for survival until his time on earth is up?

There must be more to this life…

Perhaps I do not fully understand my purpose for coming. How can God invest so much in me only for me to waste my life chasing after things I will one day leave behind—things whose fate I won’t even know once I’m gone?

This struggle for survival—could it be a misplaced priority? If God feeds the birds of the air and clothes the flowers of the field, why should a man, who was made in God’s image and understands his purpose, struggle so much just to survive?

Don’t we get it?

Let’s take a closer look at the full passage:

Genesis 1:26-28
"Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, over the cattle, over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.’

So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.’”

Everything man is chasing today—things he spends his life struggling for—was originally meant to be under his authority.

Man was designed to have dominion, not to be enslaved by his own pursuits. Yet, because we have neglected the price of sanctification after salvation, we fail to understand the finished work of Christ on Calvary.

Some may argue, “But God cursed man, saying he must toil to eat.”

Yet, consider this: When Jesus came to earth, assuming the form of man, did He not eat?
Did He not pay bills?
Did He not have people under His care?
And how did He do all of these?

Even if man was cursed, Jesus came to reconcile us. He completed this work through His death and resurrection. When He declared, “It is finished,” He meant it.

Through Christ, man has been restored to his original mandate—to dominate and subdue the earth. But because many have not realized this, the devil has given them distractions: careers, businesses, academic achievements, and endless pursuits. We now live as if our entire existence depends on these things.

Yet, Jesus Himself warned us:

Matthew 6:25-26, 31-34
"Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?

Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?

Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”

CHILD OF GOD, DYo YOU SEE IT?
It breaks my heart that we struggle so much, yet barely have enough for ourselves and our loved ones. Out of fear for tomorrow, we push harder each day—yet Jesus already gave us the answer.

If you are truly made in God’s image and likeness, you are already covered. Your Father has figured it all out.

Jesus said it clearly: You are struggling because you have not sought first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.

There is more to life than the things that perish.

I pray that the Holy Spirit grants you deeper understanding. In Jesus' name, Amen.

There's more…

THY KINGDOM COME THY WILL BE DONE.

Your humble brother in the Lord.
