Brief History of Jega Town
Jega is a historic town and the headquarters of Jega Local Government Area (LGA) in Kebbi State, Nigeria. It is one of the significant towns in northern Nigeria, known for its rich cultural heritage, agricultural economy, and role in Islamic education.
Historical Background
Jega was historically a major settlement of the Hausa people and played an important role in trade and commerce in the pre-colonial era.
The town was influenced by the Sokoto Caliphate, a 19th-century Islamic empire founded by Usman Dan Fodio.
It became a center for Islamic scholarship and education, attracting students and scholars from various parts of northern Nigeria.
