ASUSS, ANCOPSS Strengthen Alliance to Advance Education in Kano State

The Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS), Kano State Chapter, under the leadership of its chair Comrd. Amb. Dr. Abdu Usman Yalo paid a strategic courtesy visit to the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS) under the leadership of its president Haj. Uwani Ahmed Balarabe as part of ongoing efforts to deepen collaboration and drive meaningful progress in the education sector.

The engagement provided an avenue for both bodies to deliberate on key issues affecting secondary education in the state, with particular focus on improving teaching and learning standards, strengthening school leadership, and promoting a more coordinated approach to policy implementation.

In a renewed show of unity, ASUSS and ANCOPSS reaffirmed their commitment to building a strong and productive partnership, pledging to work closely in advancing initiatives that will ensure quality, inclusive, and sustainable education across Kano State.

The two organizations also aligned their collective efforts with the education agenda of Abba Kabir Yusuf, commending his administration’s commitment to revitalizing the sector and expressing their readiness to support policies and programs aimed at achieving lasting improvements in schools.

The visit underscores the critical role of synergy among key stakeholders in shaping a resilient and progressive education system that meets the needs of both educators and learners.

Under the leadership of its executives, ASUSS recorded an impressive participation at the 1st May 2026 Workers’ Day celebration held at Sani Abacha Stadium, where members joined the procession and paid respect to His Excellency, Abba Kabir Yusuf.

ASUSS expresses sincere appreciation to the Governor for his purposeful leadership, dedication to workers’ welfare, and continued support for the education sector in Kano State. His administration continues to inspire optimism and progress across the state.

ASUSS Chairman Honoured in Ibadan, Commends Progress in Kano Education Sector

Comrade Abdu Usman Yalo, Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS), Kano State Chapter, has been honoured with an Award of Excellence at a ceremony held at the University of Ibadan. The event brought together key actors in the education sector to recognize individuals contributing meaningfully to institutional development and professional harmony.

The award was presented by Ecolerite Institute of Peace Advancement and Institute of Arts Management and Professionalism Studies, in collaboration with Prowess University U.S.A. The organizers noted that the recognition reflects Comrade Yalo’s sustained efforts in strengthening collaboration among teachers and supporting initiatives that improve the quality of secondary education.

In his remarks, Comrade Yalo expressed appreciation for the honour, describing it as both a personal milestone and a reflection of the collective commitment of educators in Kano State. He emphasized the need for continued partnership among stakeholders to consolidate ongoing gains within the education system.

He further commended the reforms being implemented under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, stating that the policy direction has begun to yield positive outcomes across public secondary schools. According to him, improvements in teacher welfare, supervision, and accountability mechanisms are gradually strengthening service delivery.

Comrade Yalo also acknowledged the role of the Executive Secretary of the Kano State Senior Secondary Schools Management Board, Rabiu Sale Gwarzo, for ensuring effective implementation of the reform agenda. He noted that the Board’s emphasis on transparency and stakeholder engagement has contributed to renewed confidence within the sector.

He reaffirmed ASUSS’s commitment to supporting policies that enhance education delivery and called on teachers to sustain professionalism, remain dedicated to their responsibilities, and continue to uphold standards that will drive lasting improvements in learning outcomes.
