SINKING BECOMES IMMINENT.

MATTHEW 14: 28-31.

GOLDEN VERSE: "Immediately Jesus reached out His hand and caught him, "You of little faith, " He said, "why did you doubt?" Matthew 14:31.

Sinking is a negative word which implies falling or descending to a lower place or level.

This was the experience of Peter after he had just started walking on water, following Jesus' instruction.

It is not out of place to be daring, just as Peter did, but you must also be mindful
that challenges will arise, even though they are surmountable.

Peter left his comfort zone of the ship to follow the instruction given by Christ Jesus.

In other words, staving in your comfort place will not make you see the manifestation of God's rhema word.

However impossible the thing commanded by Christ may appear, it is certain He will give anyone who receive His word by faith the power for accomplishment; but we must take care never to put Christ's power to test in other to gratify a vain curiosity: or even for the aggrandizement of our faith, when the ordinary means for doing that are within our reach.

It is typical of man to doubt when adverse circumstances arise.

For Peter, when he saw the boisterous wind, he was afraid, but it was by faith in the power of Christ he was upheld.

The idea that gravity laws were suspended, even scared him to doubt, and then he began to sink because the laws returned to action by the energy generated through his doubt and fear.

It was not the violence of the winds, nor the raging of the waves which endangered his life, but his littleness of faith.

When in trouble, you are not expected to cry in solicitation of man's sympathy, but for God's help, so that your adversaries can desist from their pursuit. "When I cry unto thee, then shall mine enemies turn back: this I know; for God is for me" Psalms 56:9.

Peter cried unto Jesus and immediately, His outstretched arm saved him from sinking.

When you doubt, sinking becomes imminent, but when you cry to Him for help and He reaches out to you, His hands surely preserve you.

PRAYER: My Heavenly Father, help me not to sink because of doubt, that I may cry to You and not men in Jesus Christ Name.

CHANGING SIDES.

HEBREWS 11: 5 -6.

GOLDEN VERSE: "By faith Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did not experience death; he could not be found, because God had taken him away. For before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God" Hebrews 11:5.

According to the account in the Epistle to the Hebrews 11, Enoch is reckoned as the second man of faith who had a good report.

Genesis 5:22 asserts that Enoch walked in habitual fellowship with God, then one day he changed sides from terrestrial to celestial, because God made that happen.

That he walked with God, it simply implies that he was really, eminently, actively, progressively, and perseveringly religious in his conformity to God, communion with God, and complacency in God.

Enoch changed side, from a perverse side to the side of perfection, with God not allowing him see corruption, or encountering death.

In the account in Genesis, there is nothing inconsistent with the belief that Enoch was characterized by eminent faith, but it is rather implied in the expression, "he walked with God" "Can two walk together, except they be agreed?" Amos 3:3.

For Enoch to have walked with God, then he must have agreed with Him.

Can two be in agreement except they have faith in one another, as well as trust one another?

To have walked with God up to the point of translation, Enoch would have demonstrated significant confidence in the capacity and integrity of God.

Before Enoch was fully absorbed to God's side by God Himself, the testimony about him was that he pleased God. Hebrews 11:6 is emphatic that without faith, God cannot be pleased.

Those who walked with God by faith in this sinful world are pleasing to Him, and He will give them the marks of His favour, and put honour upon them.

Everyone needs a change of side at one point or the other.

To sustainably change to the greener side, faith is fundamental to conceiving and actualizing it.

Higher levels are for those who can please God by their faith. Seek to be numbered among those who please God by their faith.

PRAYER: My Father, in heaven, count me among those whose faith pleases You; and translate me to the better side as regards Your plan for me in Jesus Christ Name.

WHO ARE YOU IN THE LORD?

NUMBERS 8: 9 -14.

GOLDEN VERSE: "In this way you are to set the Levites apart from the other Israelites, and the Levites will be mine" Numbers 8:14.

Beloved, what do you consIder would be your response to the quest to know your stand with God?

A Pharisee who is a
renowned member of the Jewish ruling council at his prime age was shocked to discover that the view God had of him was miles apart from how he saw himself (John 3:1-9).

Nicodemus was quite taken aback by what was revealed to him by Christ Jesus. Similar to this character was Saul (who became Paul) prior to the encounter he had with the Lord, he had believed himself to be pious and working for God, whereas God saw him as a persecutor of His own people (Acts 9:1-6).

As God's elect, you are meant to be the light and salt to the world, and a Royal Priesthood unto God, living daily for His good purpose (Eph.2:10).

The responsibility of being the light for God is only feasible if truly it has been confirmed that you belong to God.

You must be deliberate and with great intention, take the bold step to be considered and ensure that you belong to God just like the Levites who intentionally separated themselves from the ungodly Israelites and in return were considered
redeemed to be called by God's Name and were perfectly His (Isaiah 43:1; Ezekiel 16:8).

Have you discovered who you are in the Ministry of Jesus Gospel and what God demands from you?

Have you come to the understanding of the required life of purification and dedication that you have been called into?

Christ Jesus had you in His heart to eternally be for God.

This is reflected in His supplication to God to have you sanctified by His Word which is the Truth so that you would be classified as His readymade tool In God's righteous Service (John 17:16-19).

Are you ready to take on this assignment?

PRAYER: Sanctify me Oh Lord and keep me to be steadfastly worthy and available of Your Service as You purposed for my life in Jesus Christ Name.

OBSERVANCE OF GOD'S HOLY COMMANDMENT IS A DUTY FOR ALL.

JEREMIAH 17:20-27.

GOLDEN VERSE: "Say to them, "Hear the word of the Lord, O kings of Judah and all people of Judah and everyone living in Jerusalem who come through these gate Jeremiah 17:20.

Every directive of God to His people carries with it an injunction to which express attention must be given by all, whether as the Messenger who is charged with the content or as the recipient whoever the package is meant for.

Thus it can be said that God's Commandments as apportioned for all, always come with reasonable level of responsibilities, and your response and posture to same determines the reward eventually.

God is neither partial nor is He a respecter or anyone, for He is just and adequately rewards all, in the measure for which they are due respectively (Acts 10:34; Romans 2:11; Colossians 3:25).

God's command for you is in absolute terms for your own good which is to live "in a right way" i.e. an undivided devotion to The Lord (Deuteronomy 10:12-13; 1 Corinthians 7:35).

Hearing the Word of God is essential for you to discover the importance of your total attention (as required) in pursuing the Kingdom of God in obedience to His Commandments; consistent hearing of the Word of God will help you to identify the extent you are expected to respond to Divine
expectations.

The Word of The Lord has been tested, found to be flawless and His way is perfect; it is the assured shield for all who take refuge in Him (2 Samuel 22:31: Psalm 18:30).

Jeremiah's message to both the king of Judah and his subjects compelled them to submit themselves, and diligently comply with God's commandments for the unique purpose of reviving their souls.

Once God's people stay in obedience, He is ever kind to ensure that calamity and captivity will not be their lot.

Obedience is not overrated when it comes to God; non adherence to His commands always have consequences, some of which may be severe; while obedience brings forth blessings and elevation (Deuteronomy 30:19; Matthew 21:28-32; 2 Peter 2:21),

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, by Your Grace, enable me to pattern my life after You in absolute humility, to obey all God's command without any form of delay in Jesus Christ Name.

GROWING A SERVANT'S HEART

LUKE 22: 24 -30.

GOLDEN VERSE: "For who is greater, the one who is at the table or the one who serves? Is It not the one who is at the table? But I am among you as one who serves" Luke 22: 27.

It was a long day at work.

But when I got home, it was time to start my "other" job: being a good dad and a responsible head of the family.

Greetings for my wife and son soon became," Dad, what's for dinner?" "Dad, can you get me some water? "Dad, can we play soccer?" whereas I just wanted to sit down and even though part of me wanted to be a good dad, I didn't feel like serving my family's needs at that time.

That's when I saw it: a thank-you card I had received from someone at Church.

On it was a picture of a bowl of water, a towel and dirty sandals.

Across the bottom were these words from Luke 22:27: "I am among you as one who serves".

That was the same statement Jesus made about His missions - "to serve those for whom He came to seek and save" (Luke 19:10).

That was exactly the reminder I needed.

If Jesus was willing to do the dirtiest of job for His followers - like scrubbing His followers' filthy feet (John 13:1-17) then, I could get my son a cup of water without grumbling about it.

At that moment, I was reminded that my family's request to serve them wasn't merely an obligation, but an opportunity to reflect Jesus' servant heart and His love to them.

It is this same servanthood that propels my early arrival in the Church every Sunday to join the sanctuary keepers in getting the auditorium ready for worship service before the arrival of the worshippers.

When requests are made of us, they are opportunities to become more like "The One" who served His followers by laying down His life for us.

For all the positions that you have been called into, be reminded that the only way to effectively do it is to follow your Master's (Jesus") model by doing so diligently, and with a servants heart.

PRAYER: Lord, I receive Grace to serve in my little capacity with the heart of a servant in Jesus Christ Name.

HOW THE JUST MUST LIVE.

HABAKKUK 2: 3 -5.

GOLDEN VERSE: "See, he is puffed up; his desires are not upright but the righteous will live by his faith" Habakkuk 2:4.

Welcome to the month of Living Mercy, trusting God to meet all that concerns you through His Mercy and Grace. Amen.

For the very first man and woman in the garden, they were instructed and guided on how their conduct within the garden and before God's presence will continually grease the relationship they had with God, but they considered the
alternative suggested to them by the serpent through Eve, and that severed the smooth relationship and fellowship they initially had with Divinity.

There is a vision which God's people must wait for, written by the Prophet, as instructed by God.

God has an appointed time for His appointed work, and will be sure to do the work when the time comes.

It is not for you to anticipate His appointments, but to wait for His time.

It is a great encouragement to wait with patience, that, even though it tarries, it will come at last, and be an abundant recompense to us for our waiting.

You shall not be disappointed of it, for it will come at the time appointed; nor shall you be disappointed in it, for it will fully answer your believing expectations.

The accomplishment of your long- awaited vision helps to exercise your faith and patience, and to discover your real self.

Some individuals will proudly disdain this vision, if God will work for them immediately, they will thank Him, but they will not give Him credit if otherwise.

They adjudge their own hands and wisdom sufficient for them, and God's promise to them as not so significant.

That man's soul that is thus lifted up is not upright in him; it is not right with God, it is not as it should be.

Those that either distrust or despise God's all-sufficiency will usually not walk uprightly with Him, Gen. 17:1.

Those who are truly good, and whose hearts are upright with God, will value the promise, and venture their all upon it.

They will keep close to God at all times, including during the most difficult times, and will then live comfortably in communion with God, dependence on Him, and expectation of Him.

As a just person that you are, living by faith is the only way you should live daily.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, I choose to consciously live by faith at all times, in Jesus Christ Name.

HAPPY NEW MONTH.

GOD OF GRACE.

EPHESIANS 2: 4-8.

GOLDEN VERSE: "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God" Ephesians 2:8.

Beloved, it is a few days to the end of the month of May.

Trust that by now, you have recognized it is the grace of God that has kept you going, and it is beyond human comprehension.

It is the totality of God's love, favor, mercy, and Grace that He bestows on humanity; this Grace is the unmerited, undeserving, favor that God showers on everyone that chooses to follow Jesus Christ.

Every believer is saved by Grace, not by works.

This Grace that our Lord and Master brought to us can only be accessed maximally by anyone who chooses and willing give his life to Him.

As a matter of fact, this Grace can only be found in Christ Jesus and no one else.

This is why you and I are here today, because we have found Christ, Grace has been bestowed upon us - Hallelujah!

During the course of the month of May, you would have seen and experienced various things.

There would have been happy times, sad times, and different types of seasons this month.

Yet, our beloved Father, the most benevolent and most gracious has given us grace to see the end of this month.

Our text today explains the wonderful gift that God has given to us, a gift that can only be received and exercised by faith.

This Grace isn't something we can work for, as a matter of fact, no matter how hard we work, we cannot get it.

This analogy comes to mind: "the law is a staircase to God while grace is an elevator and Jesus is the lift attendant".

Both the staircase and the elevator lead to God. But our hard work cannot power the elevator.

Our hard work is futile, all we need to do is stand in it and it will move. This is how easy Christ has made our life.

Praise Him for the Grace He made available to you!

PRAYER: Dear Jesus, Thank You for making my life easy. Help me to walk in the ease You have made for me instead of struggling to go the hard way.
