Katsina State Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda has been decorated as a Distinguished Humanitarian Fellow by the Institute for Humanitarian Studies and Social Development in recognition of his exceptional leadership in advancing human welfare and social development.

This is contained in a statement issued by Chief Press Secretary to Katsina State Governor Ibrahim Kaulaha Mohammad on 27th June 2025.

The prestigious honour was conferred during a ceremony at Government House on thursday, where the Institute also signed a comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Katsina State Government to strengthen humanitarian interventions and social development across the state.

Governor Radda described the MOU as a timely collaboration that will enhance humanitarian response and build capacity among public servants in social care delivery.

"I am truly honoured to be recognised with this Distinguished Fellowship and do not take it for granted. It motivates me to continue working harder in addressing the social needs of our people," the governor stated.

He also emphasized his administration's commitment to humanitarian causes, noting that social care and poverty reduction remain core pillars of his development agenda.

"From day one, we have rolled out interventions to reduce hardship and expand opportunities for our youth through MSMEs and social support programmes. Today's recognition reaffirms that we are on the right path," said the Governor.

Prof. Babangida Matazu, Chairman of the Institute's Governing Council, stated the organization's 16-year track record in capacity-building and social development, including partnerships with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research and the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).

"Katsina State had already engaged the Institute in prior training initiatives, and this MOU provides a framework for more sustained collaboration," Dr. Matazu explained.
