Whatâs Changing This September 1, 2025?
1. Unified Content Monetization Program (CMP) Becomes Mandatory
As of August 31, 2025, Facebook has phased out all prior monetization systemsâincluding In-Stream Ads, Ads on Reels, and Performance Bonusesâin favor of the new Content Monetization Program (CMP) .
Starting September 1, 2025, CMP is the sole pathway for creators to monetize content on Facebook. All legacy monetization methods are officially retired .
2. Enrollment Status
Currently, CMP remains invite-onlyâthough Facebook plans to gradually open public enrollment later in 2025 .
Creators who received invitations can join via the "Monetization" tab on their Professional Dashboard (mobile) or through Meta Business Suite (desktop) .
3. Expanded Earning Formats
CMP consolidates ad-based monetization across multiple formatsâReels, longer videos, photo and text posts, and even Storiesâinto one streamlined system .
All monetization is now performance-based, meaning earnings depend on how well your eligible content performs, regardless of format .
The goal: eliminate fragmented sign-up processes and varied eligibility criteria, making it easier for creators to monetize across different content types using a unified payout model .
