YOU WANT TO SURVIVE IN LAGOS: 17 Things you must not do.

1. On a bus, When you sit by the window. Never operate your phone, It will be snatched from your hand. This is a normal occurence in some parts of Lagos such as Agege and Mushin. In fact, anywhere in Lagos.

2. Whenever someone greets you on the road, Do not answer him or her especially when he approaches you from behind.

3. If you see people fiiighting, Mind your business!!. I repeat MIND YOUR BUSINESS!!

4. You must learn how to argue with a bus conductor, when he tries cheating you.
And please whenever you do. Please don't use Standard English. You must have had a good knowledge of Pidgin before you come to Lagos. If not I can teach you. 🤣

5. Walk with a known Nigerian, on the first weeks of your stay in Lagos. He'll show you the ropes or else you go sufffer.

6. Whenever you're walking in a deserted area in Lagos. Walk like a gangster, not like a responsible person. If you do, street boys will feel you're defensive and wouldn't come close to you. Street sense ✌🤣

7. Anything you did not find on your head, Please don't pick it. (You understand what I mean).

8. When you're crossing the road. Turn into a Ronaldo. Cars come in massive drives. They won't hit you but you must learn how to dribble them. 🤣

9. When you want to buy soft drinks, Buy soft drinks from people hawking in the traffic. It is believed that the drinks taste sweeter than the ones bought from people in shops😅. Just a belief!!

10. When you see a large number of people running, don't wait or ask questions. Just run with them. RUN RUN RUN!!! Ask when it is safe!! Run o🤣

11. Never leave Lagos without taking a ride on Third Mainland Bridge. It is a sin😅

12. Don't dance to any music you hear, never stare or laugh at people. Don't speak to anyone in the bus until they speak to you first.

13. Whenever you walk in a crowded area, hold your phone firmly in your hand, not in your bag or pocket or else it’s gone.

MY HUSBAND ALWAYS REFUSED TO EAT COOKED FOOD… UNTIL I CAUGHT HIM EATING THE UNIMAGINABLE.

I have been married to my husband for two years now, and in those years, I haven't seen my husband eat cooked food even once.

He preferred eating meat and would always quarrel with me if the meat was overcooked.

"Always cool my meat for two seconds," he would always say.

I noticed the fresh meat I stocked in the freezer never lasted past two days.

At first, I suspected my husband was eating it… but I never caught him red-handed.

I tried forcing him to eat normal food aside from meat, but he would always say:

"I just eat from the eatery. I’m fine, you can eat for the both of us."

Since I loved him, I stopped questioning him—for peace to reign.

He would always sneak out of bed at midnight and return early the next day.

This continued until I started getting pregnant, and everything changed.

I have gotten pregnant about three times now. But each time I put to bed and got discharged from the hospital, my baby would go missing just like that.

It happened with the first pregnancy. I was discharged from the hospital, and in less than three days, I was waiting for my mother to come and do the normal African mother routine—taking care of me and my daughter.

She was to arrive the next day. With the little strength I had, I bathed my baby and dressed her up.

I fed her with breast milk and laid her on her cradle bed so I could go and take my own bath.

When I got back to the room… my baby was missing. My husband wasn't at home. He had left for the airport to book a flight for my mother some hours ago and hadn’t returned. It was just me and my baby, and the door was locked—along with the gate.

This story was written by Grace Ochiba. If you come across it anywhere else, it was stolen.

I searched all over for my baby with tears, but up until today, her disappearance remains a mystery to me.

I thought my husband would be so mad at me when he got back. But he acted normal and..

MY TWIN AND I
EPISODE 6

Chika picked up the torn cloth slowly.

Her hands were shaking. Her eyes were full of tears.

She read the words again:

“Go back home. Or you’ll join your sister.”

Her chest was beating fast.
Her mouth became dry.
She looked around. No one was there. The whole camp was quiet.

She ran back into the room and locked the door quickly.

She sat on the bed and looked at the mirror. Nothing. No Chidi. No light. Just her face shaking in fear.

“Who wrote that?” she whispered.
“Who knows I found the box?”

Then her eyes turned to the small paper with the four names.
She picked it up and looked at the names again:

1. Ada

2. Blessing

3. Juliet

4. Eno

She closed her eyes and tried to remember.

Yes!
Ada was her roommate.
Blessing was in the same platoon as Chidi.
Juliet was in the choir group.
And Eno worked at the camp clinic.

“How are they connected?” she asked herself.

Then she looked at Chidi’s diary again. One sentence stood out:

“They pretend to be good, but they meet in secret at midnight.”

Chika knew what she had to do.

She must not go home.

She must find out the truth.

The next morning, she left her room early and went to the parade ground. She pretended to act normal. She smiled at everyone.

Then she saw Ada.

Ada came running to her.

“Chika! You’re back! I thought you left for good?”

“Yes,” Chika said with a fake smile. “I just missed camp life.”

Ada hugged her. “Let’s go for breakfast.”

Chika nodded.

As they walked, Chika looked at Ada’s wrist.

She was wearing the same gold bracelet… the one Chidi kept in the box.

Her heart jumped.

“That bracelet… where did you get it?” Chika asked.

Ada looked at her and smiled. “Oh… I’ve had it for years. Why?”

Chika shook her head quickly. “Nothing. It just looks familiar.”

They got to the kitchen. Blessing and Juliet were already sitting on a bench, eating beans and bread.

When they saw Chika, they all stood and clapped.

“Welcome back!” they said together.
