Message to the Nigerian President:
Your Excellency,
It is with a heavy heart and deep concern that I write to you about the brutal murder of our soldiers, which was tragically broadcasted live to the world. It has been five days since this devastating incident occurred in Yobe State, and yet, no action has been taken. The killers remain free, and the families of these fallen heroes are left in agony, while the government and the people have seemingly moved on, as if nothing has happened.
This is a moment of deep reflection for all of us as a nation. These soldiers were not mere faceless individuals; they were sons, fathers, husbands, brothers, uncles, cousins, and friends. A woman somewhere is now a widow, and children are fatherless because these brave men chose to serve and protect their country, their people. Yet, the very people they sacrificed for appear indifferent to their pain.
If the situation were reversed, and a soldier had committed an offense against a citizen, the internet would have been ablaze with outrage and calls for swift justice. But in this case, where a soldier’s life has been so mercilessly taken, there has been little to no response. Why the silence?
As the President of this nation, I urge you to reflect on the gravity of this situation. The government must take the security of its citizens, as well as the safety and well-being of our soldiers, seriously. It is not the declaration of a state of emergency that is needed in this case; rather, it is a commitment to protecting those who lay down their lives for us.
We, as a nation, demand that there be a live broadcast addressing the tragic loss of these soldiers. We need to hear from you, Mr. President, about the steps that will be taken to ensure justice for these men and that such a tragedy will never be repeated.
I also ask you to consider, if it were your own son who had been brutally murdered in such a way, how swiftly would you act? How seriously would you demand accountability and
