Former Governor Yahaya Bello Mourns President Muhammadu Buhari, Describes Him as an ‘Indisputably Upright Leader’

The immediate past Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, CON, has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, describing it as a national tragedy and an immense loss to Nigeria and the African continent.

The former Governor noted that President Buhari, who passed on at the age of 82, was not only a towering figure in Nigerian history but also a father figure in leadership and political mentor to him throughout his time in office.

“The passing of Baba Buhari is a deep personal loss to me. He was a father, a guide and a mentor whose leadership shaped my own philosophy of governance.

He extended heartfelt condolences to the Buhari family, the Government and people of Katsina State, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, remarking that ‘the nation mourns a man whose life was marked by simplicity, honour and a profound sense of duty to the country he served with distinction.’

Finally, Obidient Movement Kogi State Chapter Breaks Silence Over Buhari’s Death

In a letter signed by the Publicity Secretary of the initiative, Comr. Sunday,
he stated that the Obidient Movement, Kogi State Chapter, sincerely condoles with the Muhammadu Buhari family over the death of President Muhammadu Buhari, the former President of Nigeria.

He prayed that God grants his soul eternal rest.

Furthermore, he added that though the late former President Muhammadu Buhari may have wronged the good people of Kogi State through his handling of the undemocratic and questionable character of the former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello,

But in all, who are we not to forgive?
To err is human, and to forgive is divine.

Death is a clarion call that we all must embrace, and it is important for politicians in power to reflect on this moment

to be just, kind, and fair to those they are leading.

Kogi Obidient Movement – No Coalition Talk Involving Us

The former publicity of the obedient movement in Kogi State Comr O,S Daniel has taken to his X handle, to say no coalition talk involving them and they are not going to be part of it.

Comr O,S Daniel who served as the publicity secretary of the obedient movement in Kogi State during the 2023 presidential election as well one time convener for Muri grassroots redemption network a movement initiated to foster grassroots campaign for Muritala Yakubu Ajaka in the last governorship election, has described the coalition as a marriage between Desperate political stakeholders seeking relevant.

The Obidient Movement in Kogi State is not aware of any coalition involving our principal, Mr. Peter Obi, or any members of the Labour Party.

To set the record straight, there is currently no functional Labour Party structure in Kogi State. The party’s success during the last presidential election was the result of the collective efforts and sacrifices of the Obidient Movement across the state — not the party machinery.

If any form of coalition is to be considered, the support groups must be duly informed and actively involved in the negotiation and decision-making process.

Any coalition formed without the input and interest of the support groups or grassroots engagement is nothing but a marriage of convenience among desperate political actors seeking personal relevance. We, the Obedient Movement in Kogi, categorically reject such arrangements and will not be a part of it. Kogi Leadership NewsLine

Kogi APC Moves to Block Growing Coalition Ahead of 2027 Elections: Kogi Leadership NewsLine

There’s rising tension in Kogi politics as a powerful coalition, reportedly backed by top political figures dissatisfied with the Tinubu-led administration, continues to gain momentum. The group, which has adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its political platform, is making significant inroads across the state especially in Kogi East.

But not so fast.

An insider source, who chose to remain anonymous, revealed that the Kogi State chapter of the APC has vowed to resist any coalition movement within the state. “We won’t allow any coalition to destabilize the progress we’ve made,” the source emphasized.

Some local government chairmen and State Assembly members from Kogi East have also publicly declared support for Governor Usman Ododo, saying his administration’s performance so far is enough to earn him a second term.

Meanwhile, the coalition isn’t backing down. Their strategizing continues, with a clear mission: to dominate the 2027 elections.

The battle line seems to be drawing early. Who will win the hearts of Kogites come 2027?

ADC coalition against APC won’t succeed —Kogi Lawmaker

The lawmaker representing the Yagba East/Yagba West/Mopamuro Federal Constituency in Kogi State, Leke Abejide, has boasted that he is the financier of the opposition coalition, the African Democratic Congress, ADC.

Abejide, who made this claim on Thursday during an appearance on Sunrise Daily, a programme on Channels Television, added that the opposition coalition led by former Senate President David Mark would not succeed.

The lawmaker also stated that he could not rule out leaving the African Democratic Congress, ADC, for the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The coalition also announced former Senate President David Mark as its interim National Chairman and ex-Osun State governor Rauf Aregbesola as National Secretary.
