Ordinary President Ahmed has questioned the source of funds behind the tractor distribution and other empowerment activities reportedly being carried out by a retired Inspector-General of Police (IGP) who is seeking to become governor.
Ahmed raised the questions during an interview with Brekete FM, while discussing the political situation in Nasarawa State and the activities of Governor Abdullahi A. Sule.
According to him, Governor Sule has a listening ear and prioritises the interests of the masses, which he said has attracted many elites to associate with the governor.
However, Ahmed questioned how a retired IGP could begin distributing tractors and engaging in other empowerment activities while pursuing a governorship ambition.
He asked:
«“If not for the lack of accountability in this country, how would a retired Inspector-General of Police start distributing tractors and engaging in other empowerment activities simply because he wants to become governor? Where did he get the money? What business did he engage in before now?”»
Ahmed said the situation raises questions about accountability and transparency, particularly regarding the sources of funds used for political and empowerment activities.
He added that the absence of adequate scrutiny in the country allows individuals to undertake activities without sufficient public examination of how they obtained the resources involved.
“In this country, anybody can wake up and do anything,” he said.
