President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday swore in Mr Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan as the new Head of Civil Service of the Federation (HoCSF).

Enitan succeeds Mrs Didi Esther Walson-Jack, who retired after attaining the mandatory retirement age of 60 years.

The brief swearing-in ceremony took place at the State House, Abuja, marking the commencement of Mr Enitan’s tenure as the nation’s Chief Administrative Officer.

President Tinubu named Enitan, the most senior Permanent Secretary, as the new Head of Service on August 19, 2026.

The former HoCSF, Mrs Walson-Jack, attended the swearing-in ceremony, along with her husband, Hon. Nimi Walson-Jack. The wife of the new Head of Service, Mrs Olawunmi Ololade Enitan; and the Permanent Secretary, State House, Mr Peter Fashedemi, also attended the ceremony.

President Tinubu congratulated the new Head of Service and urged him to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, accountability and efficiency in the Nigerian Civil Service.

The new Federal Civil Service helmsman was born on December 12, 1966. An indigene of Osun State, he holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Banking and Finance from the University of Lagos and a Master’s in Public Policy Analysis from the Nasarawa State University, Keffi.

Enitan also served at the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs before his posting to the Office of the Vice President in the State House, where he served as Chief Administrative Officer and rose to Director between 2010 and 2018.

He was appointed Permanent Secretary in December 2018 and posted to the Federal Civil Service Commission. He later served in the Ministries of Environment, Police Affairs, Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction and Education until his latest appointment as HoCSF.

2027: Migili Youths Demand Inclusion, Endorse Agassi For APC Deputy Governorship Slot
***
Youths of the Migili ethnic nationality in Nasarawa State have called on the All Progressives Congress (APC) and other political stakeholders to consider a Migili son for the position of Deputy Governor in the 2027 general elections.

Under the aegis of the Migili Youth Association, Migili Youth Branch Chairmen Forum, and the Migili Sister Fellowship (Igbakucho Adza'miyera), the youths made the demand in a press release issued in Lafia on Tuesday.

The groups said the time had come for the Migili people to be meaningfully represented at the highest level of government in the state.

“We are not asking for the exclusion of any community. Rather, we are asking for inclusion. We are not asking for privilege without merit. We are asking that merit, experience, loyalty, capacity and representation be given due consideration,” the statement read.

The youths unanimously endorsed Chief Sonny Agassi, Garkuwan Migili, as their preferred candidate for the APC deputy governorship ticket.

They described him as a capable and experienced son of Migili land with proven leadership qualities, grassroots connection, and commitment to the development of Nasarawa State.

“We believe he possesses the experience, maturity, humility and leadership capacity required to serve as Deputy Governor and contribute meaningfully to the administration of the state,” the youths stated.

They added that his consideration would send a powerful message that every community matters and every citizen deserves an opportunity to contribute to governance.

The groups noted that the Migili people have deep historical roots in Lafia and other parts of the state and have contributed immensely to peace, unity and development of Nasarawa State over the years.

They commended Governor Abdullahi A. Sule for his efforts in promoting peace and unity, but stressed that the 2027 political dispensation should provide broader inclusion for all ethnic groups.

The youths reaffirmed their commitment to peaceful democratic participation and urged APC leaders and other decision-makers to give their aspiration serious consideration.

“For us, this is more than a political aspiration. It is about representation. It is about inclusion. It is about fairness. It is about giving every community a sense of belonging,” they said.
