NASARAWA FIRST LADY CALLED ON MUSLIMS TO CELEBRATE SALLAH ACCORDANCE TO THE TEACHINGS OF HOLY BOOK.

Residents of Nasarawa State have been advised to celebrate sallah in accordance with the teachings of the holy Quran.

Nasarawa State First Lady, Hajiya silifat Abdullahi Sule gave the advice when she received the Head of Service ,Abigail waya and Permanent Secretaries from different ministries in the state among others who paid her Sallah homage in Gudi Akwanga Local Government area of the State.

Hajiya Silifat sule who described Eid celebration as a way of appreciating God Almighty, stressed the need for Muslim ummah to pray for continued peace and unity of the state and country at large.

She urged youths to avoid actions that could jeopardize their future and appealed to parents to keep a close eye on their children, especially girls, to protect them from exploitation.

The First Lady urged Christians to use the remaining days of Lent to pray for the progress of the state and Nigeria .

The visit has in attendance Women and Youths youth wing of the National Association of persons with disabilities led by it Chairman Umar Dahiru .

NASARAWA STATE GOVERNMENT REITERATED COMMITMENT TOWARDS COLLABORATING WITH RELEVANT ORGANIZATIONS TO FIGHT AGAINST GENDER VIOLENCE.

Nasarawa State Government has reiterated commitment towards partnering with relevant women organizations and stakeholders to fight against gender based violence and other related crimes that affects women and children.

The first Lady of Nasarawa State Hajiya Silifat Abdullahi Sule made the commitment at the symposium to mark this year's international women's Day with the theme "give to gain" organized by the Nasarawa ministry of women affairs and humanitarian services in lafia the Nasarawa capital.

Hajiya silifat Abdullahi who described women as key developers of the society, gave an assurance that the state government under her office will collaborate with women groups to fight against sexual and gender based violence.

A guest speaker at the event Professor Zara Kwaghe from the Department of History and International Studies, Federal University of Lafia, called on relevant stakeholders to give more priority on women development for the growth of the state.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Humanitarian Services , Hauwa Samuel Jugbo who was represented by Mr Clement Allu,while hilighting the crucial role women play in driving the societal development , stressed the need to invest in women to strengthens families and socio economic growth in the state and county at large .

She appreciated the Nasarawa government under the leadership of Governor Abdullahi Sule for assigning women in key positions in the state,advice women not to relent in participating in political activities and acquire skills to contribute their quota to the development of families and their communities.

NIGERIA FIRST LADY HAS ADVOCATED FOR MODEST DRESSING AMONG WOMEN.

Nigeria first Lady senator Oluremi Tinubu has called on women to always dress the way they will be addressed positively, stressing that true beauty is not defined by body exposure.

Senator Oluremi Tinubu stated this during an interfaith event which brought together religious leaders, and community members in Abuja to explore family values, youth mentorship, and societal progress.

The first Lady who emphasised the importance of older women mentoring younger girls, stressed the need for society to put more priority on underprivileged to help them in making positive choices in life.

Senator Oluremi Tinubu further explained that modest clothing reflects Nigerian cultural values and should be promoted in contrast to increasingly revealing fashion trends.

She urged women to "learn to cover up" saying that dressing modestly aligns with local traditions rather than external influences.

NASARAWA STATE FIRST LADY, ADVISED NIGERIANS TO COEXIST IN HARMONY.

Nasarawa State First Lady, Hajiya Silifat Abdullahi A. Sule was among the Nigeria governors who attended the Interfaith Breaking of Fast Iftar and Lent organized by Nigeria the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu in Abuja.

The event which took place at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa Asokoro, also had in attendance ’ Spouses and wives of National Public Office holders in Nigeria.

Speaking shortly after the event Hajiya silifat Abdullahi sule stressed the need for Nigeria to live together in harmony for greater socio economic development of the country.

She also appealed to the people of Nasarawa to continue living together as one irrespective of ethnic religion and political differences for positive development.

BENUE STATE GOVERNMENT HAS LAID A FOUNDATION THE CONSTRUCTION OF INTERGRATED WASTE MANAGEMENT.

Benue State government has laid blocks foundation for the construction of Integrated Waste Management Plant to generate ninety mega Watts of electricity through the conversion of municipal and industrial solid waste into power and other valuable by-products.

performing the ceremony, governor hyacinth Alia explained that the project is structured as a partnership between Sectorlead Limited and the Benue State Government, directly supported by the Public-Private Partnership, PPP agenda of Alia's administration.

Governor Alia noted that the facility would transform waste streams into electricity, alternative fuels, bio-fertilizer, methane-based products, and recyclable materials, capable of delivering long-term environmental, industrial, and energy transformation for the State.

Represented by his Deputy, Dr Sam Ode, the Governor also said the project will provide employment for over six thousand people, bring international expertise and technical innovation into the state's infrastructural development, improve energy reliability, reduce power deficits, stimulate investment in energy-dependent sectors, and improve public health outcomes.

Project manager, Sector Lead, Adedayo Mustapha stated that the facility would provide the most sustainable alternative source of clean energy, enhance agro processing and small scale businesses, as well as create fifteen thousand direct a indirect jobs.

Director General, Bureau for Entrepreneurship and Wealth Creation, Benita Shuluwa expressed optimism that the project when completed would increase the internally generated revenue while Commissioner for Water Resources and Environment, Odoh Ugwu described the project as a deliberate way to ensure a friendly environment.

The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC in Plateau State has conducted a peaceful Congress in Jos South local government area
at the Landfield Resort, the event drew delegates and party stakeholders from all the 17 Local Government Areas of the state.

The States' All Progressives Congress, APC election which was conducted through consensus, witnessed the reaffirmation of outgone Chairman, Rufus Bature with 35 other officials.

Speaking at the event, Governor Caleb Mutfwang described the day as historic in view of the peaceful manner at which the Congresses were conducted, despite some challenges, which he observed would be duly addressed.

He therefore charged party members to remain united and ensure that all grievances are channeled appropriately towards addressing all forms of perceived disagreements.

Governor Mutfwang used the occasion to caution social media users to desist from all acts of division and to embrace peaceful coexistence, exhibit high sense of responsibility when it comes to party affairs.

He added that channels of grievance resolution within the party would be activated to ensure that a conducive atmosphere was created for the progress of the party and State.

In his acceptance speech, the newly reaffirmed State Chairman of the party, Rufus Bature, who acknowledged the responsibility bestowed on him was enormous, assured party followers of excellent representation.

Earlier, State Congress Chairman Mr Oscar Oyebo commended delegates and members of the party for exhibiting a high sense of responsibility and dedication to the party by ensuring that officials emerged through consensus.

BENUE STATE GOVERNMENT HAS REITERATED COMMITMENT TOWARDS SECURITY FRAME WORK.

Benue State Government has adopted a people's centred public safety framework, targeted at providing community ownership driven security.

Governor Hyacinth Alia made this known when he received a delegation of Open Society Foundation and partners at the Government House Makurdi.

Represented by his Deputy Dr Sam Ode, the Governor said true security is not imposed but built and Sustained by the people, stressing that the initiative aligns with the police act twenty twenty which affirms that effective public safety must be rooted in community participation, respect for human rights and structured collaboration between citizens and security institutions.

Programme Manager Security and Rights, Louise Elhers explained that the programme is being driven by the Open Society Foundations and its partners in ensuring that communities take ownership and commitment in protecting lives and property, adding that the programme would build bridges of peace between security operatives and local communities as a sure way of enhancing trust and confidence in intelligence sharing.

President Lawyers Alert, Dr Rommy Mom noted that the Initiative is to be implemented through practical experiences from the pilot scheme in Guma and Katsina-Ala Local Government Areas in collaboration with the Bureau for Homeland Security.

KWARA STATE GOVT PROMOTED OVER 2000 CIVIL SERVANTS.

The Kwara State Government has issued over 2000 civil servants due for the 2024 promotion exercise, letter of elevation.

This was revealed by the Chairman of the State Civil Service Commission, Hajia Habibat Yusuf, in Ilorin .

Hajia Habibat Yusuf commended the state governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, for approving the issuance of the year 2024 promotion

According to her, over 2000 civil servants sat for the year 2024 promotion examination and interview, out of which 98.87 percent passed.

Hajia Yusuf noted that the beneficiaries of the year 2024 promotions who have been issued their letters would begin to enjoy the financial benefits of the exercise.

She noted with delight that the state government has been very responsive to the welfare of its workers adding that Funds and logistics were readily provided for all Ministries, Departments and Agencies which has significantly boost the productivity of the civil servants across all MDAs.

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT REITERATED COMMITMENT TOWARDS FIGHTING CANCER IN THE COUNTRY

Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare Kachollom Dagu gave the commitment while flagged off the North-Central programme for free cancer screening held at JUTH.

Correspondent, Grace Damulak reports that One thousand people from across the North-Central zone will benefit from the programme.

The event, themed “United by Unique, United in Our Goals,” highlights Nigerias alignment with international cancer control strategies, which emphasize the need for locally tailored solutions.

The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare Kachollom Daju said Nigeria’s cancer response must reflect the nation’s unique healthcare realities.

She stated that launch of a nationwide screening programme targeting 1000 people in each of the six geopolitical zones will run through February 2026.

DAJU who noted that individuals diagnosed during the screening exercise will receive appropriate medical support stressed that early detection remains critical in reducing cancer related deaths, reduces financial burden on families, and improves national productivity.

The Permanent Secretary explained that the initiative aligns with ongoing reforms under the Federal Government’s Health Sector Renewal Agenda, which focuses on strengthening primary healthcare, improving diagnostic services, expanding health insurance coverage, and upgrading tertiary health institutions.

Also speaking, the Chief Medical Director of JUTH, Dr. POKOP BUPWATDA emphasised that cancer is preventable and treatable if detected early, urging Nigerians to take advantage of screening opportunities.

In a presentation, the President of the Nigerian Cancer Society, NCS, Abidemi Omonisi represented by National Secretary General of The NCS, Professor Danladi Bojude disclosed that the society is mobilising 100 billion naira to intensify fight against cancer

ALL PROGRESSIVE CONGRESS APC TO COMMENCE WARD CONGRESS IN NASARAWA STATE

The All Progressives Congress APC in Nasarawa state says it is Committed to peaceful and hitch free Ward Congress across the state.

This was the resolution of the APC stakeholders during their meeting held at the Government house lafia, the state capital.

Addressing the APC stakeholders during the meeting, Governor Abdullahi Sule commended the contributions and the role played by the APC stakeholders in Nasarawa state, especially the recent Party E -registration exercise,where about two hundred and sixty thousand, nine hundred and fifty five members were captured,.

Governor Sule therefore called for close synergy among stakeholders in the state to make the party more viable and stronger in the nooks and crannies of the state.

APC National Deputy Secretary professor AbdulKarim Kana called on aspirants of the party in the state to exercise restraint and allow laid down rules to take it course for progress and success of the party.

On his part, former Governor of the state, Senator Tanko Almakura explained that for the party to succeed at the national and sub national levels there is need for collective synergy among key stakeholders.

KWARA STATE FIRST LADY SOLICITED COLLABORATION IN THE AGAINST GBV

The Wife of the Kwara State Governor, Professor Olufolake Abdulrazaq has called for a united and sustained action against Gender-Based Violence (GBV), stating that neither religion nor culture justifies abuse, oppression, or harmful practices.

Professor AbdulRazaq made the call at A Two Day programme on the Advocacy for Prevention: Shifting Social Norms and Strengthening State Commitment to End Gender Based Violence organized by the Nigeria Governor's Spouses Forum in collaboration with Ford Foundation held at the First-Lady's office, Ahmadu Bello House, Ilorin.

The First-Lady, who is the Chairperson of the Nigeria Governor's Spouses Forum, urged communities, government agencies, and civil society groups to collaborate in promoting dignity, justice, compassion and respect for human life.

Professor Abdulrazaq, who is also the Founder of the Ajike People Support Center, explained that the engagement aimed at strengthening advocacy and partnerships to challenge harmful social norms, while ensuring structural support and safe shelters for survivors of gender-based violence.

In her remarks, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Afolashade Oluwakemi Opeyemi outlined the state government’s interventions, which included emergency response centres, confidential reporting channels, and survivor support systems designed to guarantee safety and dignity, adding that more than 1,000 traditional rulers across the state had been trained to enhance community-level prevention and response.

Mrs Opeyemi described the engagement as a call to action, calling on traditional and religious leaders to support the enforcement of the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Law and to ensure that survivors are referred to appropriate authorities without fear or stigma, enjoining the public to call the Ministry of Women Affairs hotline on 09035509221 or 08069710318.

ZERO TOLERANCE TO FEMALE GE***AL MULTILATION

As Nigeria joins the rest of the world to mark International Day of Zero Tolerance to Female Ge***al Mutilation, residents of Nasarawa State have been warned to desist from the act to prevent possible death and marrital challenges among girls and women in the society.

I spoke with relevant stakeholders in the health and justice sectors among other people on the streets of Lafia about the effects of Female Ge***al Mutilation on the society.

The International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Ge***al Mutilation is observed every sixth of February annually with the aim of raising awareness about the harmful practice of Female Ge***al Mutilation that has affected two hundred and thirty million girls and women world wide and to promote it's eradication.

Speaking on how Female Ge***al Mutilation has impacted the lives of girls and women in communities, some of the stakeholders frowned at the practice with a call for prosecution of any person or family found still indulging in acts of female ge***al mutillation.

A Gynecologist at the Federal University of Lafia Teaching Hospital, Doctor Bawa Dogara Bure who spoke on the impact of the practice to the female gender said, female ge***al mutilation has to do with cutting or removing part of female ge***al without anesthesia or hygiene which is rooted in cultural beliefs about purity, marriageability and control.

While calling on relevant authorities to strengthen the fight against female ge***al mutilation, Doctor Bawa Dogara explained that the resultant effects of FGM are bleeding, severe pains, infertility, trauma anxiety, increase of HIV transmission among others.

The Director of Public Prosecution at the Nasarawa State Ministry of Justice, Barrister Allu Justina Alkali regretted that even though the law prohibits female ge***al mutilation most parents are still doing it to their female children.
