Except we want to shy away from the truth, it is obvious that Kwara North stakeholders are trading our communal security for their political agenda.

Kwara North has the number three citizen and the SSG of the state, yet the region was completely omitted in a press release from the state government. And this is a region that suffers the most damage from these daredevils.

Our stakeholders need to know that this is not the right time for politicking. At this moment, the Kwara North agenda is secondary to the security of lives and properties of our region. Afterall, it’s only when one is alive that one can cast their votes.

Let us all unite to fight this menace. Let those who are in power stop shying away from speaking the truth to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for fear of losing out in the race for the ticket. Only Allah gives power and you only get power when you and your constituents are alive and safe.

Of what use will your agenda be to Kwara North when the whole of Kwara North gets wiped off before the election?

The last press release is an eye opener and a pointer to what we have always known, Kwara North holds no value to this government, safe for the polls. The total neglect since the beginning of this menace is intentional and lingers on because the people who should speak to power are cowards. But I want to remind the Kwara State Government that no human is more human than the other and you all will one day stand before Allah to account for the welfare and safety of your citizens.

May Allah in His infinite mercy return peace to our land and country as a whole.

LEYTA CONDEMNS GOVERNOR'S ANTI-REGION SECURITY POSTURE

Demands answers

Call for resignation

The Lafiagi Emirate Youth Transparent Association (LEYTA) vehemently condemns Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq's nonchalant attitude towards Kwara North's security, which has unleashed wanton chaos, anarchy, and devastation upon our once-peaceful communities.

What has Edu LGA people done to deserve all these?

Must we be Yoruba before you know that our region is under seige and bleeding?

Did you sworn an oath to protect only your race?

Why has Kwara North remained abandoned while other regions enjoy state-backed security interventions?

How many more innocent lives must be lost in Edu and Patigi before you act as a responsible leader?

This reckless and irresponsible governance has created a power vacuum, emboldening nefarious elements to wreak havoc on our citizens, destroying lives, livelihoods, and our collective sense of security.

Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq, your inactions constitute a brazen betrayal of the public trust, exposing our region to unprecedented insecurity, and undermining the very fabric of our society.

We hereby demand the immediate resignation of the Governor if the prevailing security situation in the state is beyond his control. Leadership entails the responsibility to safeguard the lives and property of citizens, and where such responsibility cannot be effectively discharged, it is both honorable and necessary for the leader to step aside for competent hands to restore peace, order, and public confidence.

We call upon all stakeholders, civil society organizations, and concerned citizens to join us in this righteous struggle for justice, security, and the restoration of our region's dignity.

LEYTA would continue to lend it voice at critical times to ensure all hands are on the deck to turn things around positively for the entire Emirate and beyond.

Again, Gov AbdulRazaq Approves Recruitment of 2,600 Additional Forest Guards; Training to Begin This Week

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq earlier approved the recruitment of 2,600 additional forest guards as part of ongoing efforts to combat security challenges in Kwara North and South.

The new recruits will join the 700 forest guards earlier engaged, who are already working alongside security agencies at the frontline to combat banditry and restore peace in affected communities.

Like their predecessors, the 2,600 new forest guards, whose training will begin this week, will undergo advanced military training, including the handling of sophisticated weapons and modern strategies for neutralizing threats on the battlefield.

This renewed recruitment drive underscores the Governor’s commitment to strengthening security architecture across the state and ensuring that criminal elements are weeded out to restore lasting peace in Kwara.

Kwara Lawmaker, Hon. Owolabi Olatunde Rasaq, Visits Oke-Ode, Commiserates With Residents Over Insecurity

Amidst the insecurity challenges facing Oke-Ode community, the member representing Share/Oke-Ode Constituency at the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Owolabi Olatunde Rasaq (HOOR), on Wednesday paid a solidarity visit to the town.

Hon. Rasaq said his visit was to commiserate with the people and stand by them during this difficult period. He commended the bravery and resilience of the Police Officers, the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, local security personnel, vigilante groups, and other courageous individuals who have continued to safeguard lives and properties in the area.

The lawmaker also saluted the indomitable spirit of residents who, despite the challenges, have chosen to remain in the community and keep Oke-Ode alive.

“With unity, courage, and the unwavering support of government at all levels, Oke-Ode district shall overcome these challenges and rise stronger,” he assured.

Kwara Govt urges vigilance, limited movt as security forces escalate attacks on kidnappers’ hideouts

Kwara State Government has urged residents of the state, especially people around Ekiti, Ifelodun, Isin, Oke Ero, and Irepodun LGAs, to be vigilant and restrict outdoor activities as much as possible in the interim.

The advisory followed heightened operations by combined security forces in border towns in Kogi and Kwara, where kidnappers are believed to have hibernated.

“We urge people to be very vigilant and limit their movements to only very necessary routines. That is to avoid being caught unawares as the kidnappers are fleeing their hideouts. We do not want law-abiding citizens to be affected,” according to a statement by the Commissioner for Communications Bolanle Olukoju.

She said the government regrets the temporary inconveniences the limited movement may cause in the nearby areas.

“We commend the security forces for the renewed efforts to rout out the criminals, and charge them to continue until they are totally neutralised and flushed out of our forests,” she added.

"The Kwara North stakeholders, especially those in the APC, are, without mincing words, the most absurd people to have ever graced the earth. Their entire region has suffered more than the South is currently experiencing, yet they have failed to rise to the occasion. Perhaps the governorship ticket is more valuable to them than the lives of the people in their domain; they aspire to rule over dead bodies. The casualties in their region are underreported, yet their calls for the governorship ticket gain greater traction. They should look toward the South, imagine what Central would have done, and ask themselves if they are truly competent to govern this state."
