Gunmen have k!lled the President General of the Obosi Community in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, Hon. Ike Okolo.

Hon. Okolo was sh0t d£ad at a filling station in the community about 8 p.m. on Monday, January 2, 2023.

A gory video of him showed the community leader was sh0t while behind the wheels of his SUV.

His k!llers are yet to be identified, although there were speculations that it might be the handiwork of cult groups which are rampant in the community.

The slain leader was said to be very vocal against unknown gunmen and the cult-related siege in his community.

Four policemen were feared killed yesterday evening when gunmen attacked the convoy of a former Imo State governor, Ikedi Ohakim.

A source said the former governor, who was in the company of two of his children, had appeared to be the target of a possible abduction or assassination.

Ohakim’s driver, however, managed to escape, following which the attackers reportedly attacked the vehicle conveying the policemen with explosives, resulting in the death of four of them.

Narrating what happened, in an interview with TheNiche, Ohakim said: “We were driving between Isiala Mbano and Ehime Mbano. These people blocked us at a place called Umualumaku.

“They attacked us from behind and were firing at our vehicles consistently. I thought I was a dead man and I was with two of my children – my son and daughter.

“What saved me was the bulletproof vehicle. That I am alive today is by the special grace of God and the bulletproof vehicle.

“But unfortunately for me they killed four of our boys, including the driver. Yes, we lost four of the boys and I am devastated. How can that be? What crime did they commit?”

Ohakim said even when his own driver managed to escape from the scene, the assailants pursued his vehicle.

“They pursued us and continued firing at our tyres. Luckily, the vehicle has what is called run-flat tyres on which you can continue driving even after a puncture. So, even when they shot at the tyres hoping to immobilise us, the vehicle continued moving. If they were ordinary tyres and the vehicle had stopped, they would cornered and finished us.

“But the tyres held on until we got back home. We drove for about 20 minutes before we got home. That was the saving grace.

“The driver who manifested tremendous level of driving skill kept manoeuvring until he lost them at a junction when he went right and not knowing where we had gone, they headed the other direction on the road to Umuahia."

Ohakim, who said he saw the assailants, said they were not amateurs.

“This goes beyond the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), I must say. These are professionals, well-trained. They are not ordinary people.”

It’s nobody’s business - Blessing Okoro reacts to speculation about her alleged romantic affair with popular car dealer, IVD, who lost his wife, Bimbo in an alleged domestic abuse

Blessing Okoro made headlines yesterday after she took to Instagram to praise an unmentioned man who tattooed her name on his hand. When a follower pointed out that it might be IVD, she wrote “never say never”.

The self-acclaimed relationship expert noted in a live session with Daddy Freeze that people can meet people they eventually fall in love with at their place of work.

Blessing Okoro who did not confirm or deny her alleged affair with IVD, stated that she doesn’t owe the public any explanation as it is her private life.

She also alleged that many are running with the narratives online without even hearing IVD’s side of the story in the alleged domestic abuse.

Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin has announced that all policemen attached to the Ajah police station in Lagos State have been transferred out of the division.

Punch visited the police station after the recent k!lling of a pregnant lawyer, Bolanle Raheem, by an Assistant Superintendent of Police, Drambi Vandi, who was attached to the station.

They spotted some officers consuming alcohol in sachets while heavily armed upon closer observation. One of the officers who sat close to a barbing salon attached to a building beside the station, was reportedly seen with a glass cup of beer, which he allegedly sipped at intervals.

The report added that a policeman among another set of officers who took cover under a shed adjacent to the station was seen drinking a canned alcohol drink with a pistol strapped to his waist.

It was also reported that while some vendors found around the police station allegedly made some of the alcoholic drinks available within the officer’s reach, other officers stayed away from prying eyes by walking a distance to patronise other traders.

It was further learnt that most of the policemen had spent a long time in the area and had refused to be transferred.

After the exposé by Punch, the Lagos state command has now transferred all police officers attached to Ajah police state.

According to Hundeyin, this would fully materialise in a couple of days.

The statement read;

“I can confirm that this publication has been overtaken by events. The new DPO Ajah, CSP Adolf Ogwu, had earlier in the week dismantled all the shanties around the police station.

“In addition, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Abiodun Alabi, has already effected the transfer out of ALL personnel of the division, with replacement from other divisions. This would fully materialise in a couple of days.

“While appreciating MobilePunch for the exposé, we encourage more Lagos residents to, as usual, say something whenever they see something, as this would translate to a better policing experience for all. Remember, security is everyone’s business.”

Fancy Acholonu, ex-fiancée of Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo, has revealed that the actor convinced her to apologise publicly.

Acholonu made this known on her Instagram page when a curious follower asked her if she was convinced to make the post.

Brazilians bid a final farewell this week to football giant Pele, starting Monday with a 24-hour public wake at the stadium of his long-time team, Santos.

The oceanside home of the team nicknamed “Peixe” — “fish” in Portuguese — is expecting a huge influx of fans looking to honor the “King” of football, who died aged 82 on Thursday after a long battle with cancer.

Stadium doors will open at 10:00 am local time (1300 GMT). The coffin bearing the remains of the only player to have won three World Cups will be displayed in the center of the field.

Known as Vila Belmiro after the neighborhood where it is located, the black-and-white stadium has a capacity of 16,000 people.

In the stands, three giant flags could be seen Sunday, one with an image of Pele displaying the famous number 10 on his jersey.

Another bore the message “Long live the king”; the third said simply, “Pele 82 years.”

Entry to the stadium will be allowed until 10:00 am Tuesday, officials said.

After that, a procession will be held through the streets of Santos, a port city about 75 kilometers (47 miles) from the state capital Sao Paulo.

The parade will pass the house of Pele’s mother, 100-year-old Celeste Arantes, who is unaware that her world-famous son has died.
