Nigeria Will Be Governed Remotely Until Tinubu Returns’ – Hakeem Baba-Ahmed

PRP National Chairman Hakeem Baba-Ahmed says Nigeria will be governed by WiFi and phone calls until President Tinubu returns from Paris.

Reacting Wednesday on X to Tinubu's extended vacation, Baba-Ahmed wrote:

"PBAT, C-in-C has extended his leave at a time VP is out of country. We will be governed remotely until President returns. At a time Nigerians are preparing to say we want more of this type of leadership or a major change. PBAT must know something we don't."

Tinubu left Aug 30 for London/Paris working vacation, met Macron and businessman Bollore. He was supposed to return after 21 days but Presidency Sept 21 extended by "few more days" – expected weekend.

Meanwhile VP Shettima left Sept 20 for New York for 81st UNGA.

But Presidency says no problem. Special Adviser Daniel Bwala argued:

"President can govern from anywhere under Section 5 of Constitution. He does not need to be physically in Nigeria to exercise powers."

Senate President Akpabio also defended:

"There is no absence in A*o Rock. World is global village, you can give instructions from internet."

Baba-Ahmed who resigned as Tinubu's Special Adviser on Political Matters earlier 2026, said that is precisely the problem – remote governance while country faces insecurity, hardship.

Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai said he bears no hatred or resentment toward former colleagues, friends, or family members who have remained silent or distanced themselves from him during his current difficulties. He said he supported people and causes in the past because of his faith, values, upbringing, and conscience—not because he expected gratitude or repayment. He acknowledged that adversity has helped him see some relationships more clearly and may cause him to reconsider certain relationships.

El-Rufai stressed that he has no regrets about helping others when he believed it was right and would not allow the actions of others to change his principles. He said he seeks neither revenge nor retribution for any perceived injustice or ingratitude, leaving ultimate judgment to Almighty Allah. He concluded that his main concern is to remain at peace with his conscience and with Allah, while allowing each person to live with the choices they make.

Are you kidding me? This is one of the people who took part in the Occupy Nigeria protest during President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, when fuel was around ₦140 per litre.

Today, fuel prices are close to ₦1,500 per litre, yet he appears comfortable and is even campaigning for the same government whose policies many Nigerians say have made life increasingly difficult.

So, what happened to the outrage? Was the protest genuinely about the suffering of Nigerians, or was there more to it than that? These are questions Nigerians deserve to ask.

JUST IN: Senate President Godswill Akpabio has addressed the controversy surrounding the absence of both President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima from Nigeria

In a video shared by Channels Television, Akpabio said he is Senate President and Chairman of the National Assembly, but he is not the acting president. He said there is no vacancy in A*o Rock because Tinubu is still in power and is only on a working leave

Akpabio said Tinubu recently met French President Emmanuel Macron on a state visit to discuss bilateral matters aimed at bringing benefits back to Nigeria. He added that because Tinubu could not attend the UN General Assembly, Shettima represented him.

Akpabio said only he, as Chairman of the National Assembly, can declare a vacancy in A*o Rock. Akpabio stated that Tinubu can give instructions and run government affairs from where he is outside Nigeria

In Akpabio's words: "There is no vacancy in A*o Rock, people who are talking are just talking. I am the only person as Chairman of National Assembly that can speak the voice of national assembly and say there is vacancy and there will be vacancy. Right now there is no vacancy, Bola Tinubu is still in power and he is still running the affairs of Nigeria"

A United States law firm working for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Von Batten Montague-York, has said it has been cleared and authorised to commence a $36 million federal lawsuit against President Bola Tinubu and former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, in the United States.

The firm disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday saying the suit would be filed before the United States District Court for the District of Columbia
