Approves meal, stipends to spike enrollment-

Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has inaugurated the Higher Islamic College, Gajiganna, in the northern part of the state.

The college will blend the traditional Almajiri education system (Sangaya) with the formal education system.

Speaking on Friday in Gajiganna town, Zulum stressed that about 20 similar colleges had been built in different local government areas to provide Almajirai with basic literacy and vocational skills.

The governor said: “our goal is clear: to provide our children, especially Sangaya learners, with the knowledge and skills required to thrive in today’s world.

“In pursuit of this, the institutions we are establishing operate under a curriculum approved by the National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS) which harmoniously blends Islamic scholarship with Science, Mathematics, Technology and Foundational English.

Sokoto State

Residents of Sokoto State, devastated, displaced, and increasingly hopeless.

The wave of banditry in Sokoto State has reached an alarming level, with criminal gangs allegedly tightening their deadly grip on 16 out of the state’s 23 local government areas, leaving residents devastated, displaced, and increasingly hopeless.

On Monday evening, hundreds of men, women, and children from Shagari Local Government Area staged a mass protest, blocking the Sokoto–Lagos trunk A highway. They expressed anger over relentless attacks that have crippled their communities and demanded urgent government action to stem the tide of killings and abductions.

We urge the Sokoto State government and security forces to help reduce the menace of banditry in the state.

Advice to Governors and Their Aides

1. Power is a Trust, Not a Throne
Governorship is not ownership of the people but stewardship. Every action should reflect service, not self-glorification. Remember: you are temporary occupants of the office; the people and the state remain.

2. Arrogance Shortens Tenure
History shows that many leaders who become too proud or disconnected from reality often face abrupt ends—whether through impeachment, legal battles, or political betrayals. Respect the limits of power, because pride blinds and isolates.

3. Build Legacy, Not an Empire
The real mark of leadership is not the number of convoys or sycophants around you, but the institutions, policies, and goodwill you leave behind. Ask yourself daily: If I leave today, what will my people remember me for?

4. Treat Aideship with Humility
Aides should remember they are not kings themselves but servants of both the governor and the public. Too many aides abuse their small access to power and end up irrelevant once their principal falls. Humility prolongs relevance.

5. The People Always Have the Final Say
No matter how powerful you feel, your true verdict lies in the hearts of citizens. When tenure ends—peacefully or prematurely—the people’s memory is the real judgment.

6. Remember the Transience of Power
One signature or one judicial ruling can remove a governor from office overnight. This is why leaders must remain humble, avoid oppression, and treat everyone with respect.

7. Life After Office is Longer
Governorship lasts at most 8 years, but life after office could stretch for decades. How you live after leaving depends on how you ruled while in power. If you governed with pride and arrogance, your post-office life may be lonely and bitter.

---

👉🏽 In short: Govern with humility, serve with sincerity, and leave with dignity.
