The 23-year-old's mortal remains were brought home on June 17, 2025, sparking an outpouring of emotions as family, friends, and local residents gathered to pay their respects.

Maithili's journey was one of inspiration, having overcome financial difficulties to secure a job at Air India. As the eldest of four siblings, her salary was the primary source of income for her family, comprising her father, a welder, and her mother, a homemaker. Her determination and resilience had improved the family's financial situation, making her untimely demise all the more devastating.

The Air India flight AI-171, a Boeing Dreamliner 787-8, crashed on June 12, 2025, shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad International Airport, claiming 241 lives, including Maithili and 11 other crew members. Captain Sumeet Sabharwal, who was piloting the Air India flight that trag!cally cr∆shed in Ahmedabad last week, was laid to rest in Mumbai on Tuesday. His h£artbr∆ken father bid a t£arful f!nal goodbye before the cremation.

Sabharwal’s remains were brought from Ahmedabad to Mumbai earlier in the day, nearly a week after the d!saster. The last rites were performed at an electric crematorium in Chakala, attended by close family members. Around 11:15 a.m., after completing the r!tuals for the 56-year-old veteran pilot, the grieving family quietly departed.

Friends, relatives, and neighbors gathered outside his home to pay their respects. Overcome with grief, Sabharwal’s elderly father, Pushkaraj, folded his hands in a silent, emotional tribute to his son.

The London-bound Air India flight AI-171, carrying 242 people, crashed on June 12 in Ahmedabad, claiming nearly all lives on board and 29 others on the ground. Captain Sabharwal, with over 8,200 hours of flying experience, was in command, assisted by First Officer Clive Kundar.

The mortal remains of 20-year-old Kongbrailatpam Nganthoi Sharma, a young flight attendant from Manipur, who tragically lost her life in the recent Air India Dreamliner crash in Ahmedabad, were brought home to Imphal today.

Nganthoi was among the two dedicated cabin crew members from Manipur who perished in the devastating crash involving the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft. Alongside her was 26-year-old Lamnunthem Singson, another promising flight attendant from the state whose life was also cut short in the heartbreaking accident.

Both young women were remembered for their professionalism, warmth, and dreams of soaring high in their aviation careers. Their untimely deaths have left their families, friends, and the entire Manipur community in deep mourning, as heartfelt tributes continue to pour in from across the country.
