BETTER LIVING CONDITIONS AHEAD, LASG PROMISES
By Lasisi Temitope
Better living conditions are the yearnings of most residents of the centre of excellence, Lagos, Nigeria.
Achieving this feat, the Lagos State Government under the administration of Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu in a bid to make this happen and to reach out to all residents of the state under this democratic process and to plan ahead for the betterment of Lagosians in the year 2025 has staged a "budget consultative forum" across the five divisions of the state.
In Epe division, the event was held on Friday July 26 at the Epe Jubilee Chalet and it had in attendance various traditional rulers of the division, market men and women, artisans, youths, top government functionaries, educationists and host of others.
The Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Hon. Temitope Ope George stated that the aim of the Lagos State Government on the annual budget consultative forum is to meet with the citizens to discuss developmental requests and issues affecting them in their various areas.
He also pointed out some updates on the implementation status of completed and ongoing projects and programs outlined in the 2024 budget.
He further assured that;
“The state government is doing everything possible to see that all residents have the minds of hope and trust in the communal development”
“The Governor and his team will continue to provide better opportunities for the citizens and residents of Lagos state”
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Economic Planning and Budget, Mr Olalekan Hafeez Balogun in his speech said;
" This august gathering is in preparation for the Year 2025 Budget hosted by the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget”
"This forum has always charged itself to reach out to the five divisions in Lagos State so that inputs of all stakeholders are taken into consideration in the State’s Budget preparation process to further ensure transparency, accountability, inclusion, effective representation and acceptability of the Budget”.
"As an indigene of the Epetedo area of Lagos Island & a resident of Apapa, today’s edition being the first for this year is very special and personal to me”
"As a Government, our commitment to the wellbeing of citizens and residents of Lagos, as well as the growth of our state is resolute and unwavering”.

In his words
“Our philosophy remains that for democracy to maintain its essence, citizens’ engagement with the Government must be encouraged and indeed deliberately courted”
"This is evident in our State’s slogan of ‘Ajumose’ which literally means ‘joint effort’. It has been this guiding principle that led to the movement of 1 State consultative forum to 3 Senatorial districts and now coming down to each of the 5 IBILE divisions of our great State”.
"This gives the people a voice to have a say in the State budget preparation, while also holding the Government accountable to deliver on projects agreed upon”.
"While strengthening our resolve on “All-inclusive Governance” and reinforcing it with the ‘No One Must Be Left Behind’ maxim, either on account of their social status, gender or age; this administration will focus on policies and programs that will ensure that everyone is carried along and catered for.
"Thus, the main reason why the State has always adhered to proper consultation and due diligence especially in decision making processes, while also creating an avenue to update stakeholders on the half year performance of the budget, the resources available for the annual budget, taking into cognizance all economic variables such as the global and local inflation and much more”.
"Most importantly, this forum provides us with an ample opportunity to share ideas geared towards a “Greater Lagos”, while rubbing minds with you, the citizens to ensure that your desired interests are captured in the budget as resources available permits" he reiterated
