BREAKING: We've called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to urgently direct Dr. Bosun Tijani , Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, and Yomi Arowosafe, Secretary of the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF) to account for and explain the whereabouts of the alleged missing or diverted โ‚ฆ26.9 billion of public funds from the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF).

We urged him to direct Mr Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice and appropriate anti-corruption agencies to promptly and effectively investigate the allegations that โ‚ฆ26.9 billion of public funds are missing or diverted from USPF.

Anyone suspected to be responsible should face prosecution as appropriate, if there is sufficient admissible evidence, and any missing or diverted public funds should be fully recovered and remitted to the treasury.

The grave allegations are documented in the latest annual report published by the Auditor-General of the Federation on 9 September 2025.

BREAKING: We are seriously concerned about the persistent use of criminal defamation lawsuits by the government of President Bola Tinubu to target activists, journalists, bloggers and other Nigerians solely for the peaceful exercise of their human rights.

SERAPโ€™s statement follows the ruling today by the Federal High Court in Abuja dismissing the no-case submission filed by activist Omoyele sowore in the case brought against him by the Department of State Services (DSS) over alleged cyberbullying of President Bola Tinubu.

In a statement today, SERAP said, โ€œWhile we respect the role of the judiciary and the importance of due process, the decision to proceed with this prosecution raises significant human rights concerns, particularly regarding the protection of freedom of expression in Nigeria.โ€

โ€œThe charges against Mr Sowore appear to stem from the peaceful expression of opinions on matters of public interest. International human rights law is clear that public officials, including heads of state, are subject to a higher threshold of criticism. Criminal proceedings based on critical or offensive speech risk undermining democratic accountability and open debate.โ€

โ€œSERAP is further concerned that the continued prosecution of Mr Sowore would have a chilling effect on journalists, activists, and citizens who seek to express dissenting views or hold those in power accountable. The use of broadly framed laws, including cybercrime provisions, to penalise speech creates a dangerous precedent for civic space in Nigeria.โ€

โ€œUnder Section 39 of the Nigerian Constitution 1999 (as amended), every person has the right to freedom of expression, including the freedom to hold opinions and to receive and impart ideas and information without interference.

This right is reinforced by Article 19 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and Article 9 of the African Charter on Human and Peoplesโ€™ Rights, both of which Nigeria is a state party. Safeguarding the right to free expression and ensuring fair trial guarantees are essential to maintaining public confidence in the justice system.โ€

โ€œWe urge the Nigerian authorities to immediately withdraw all criminal def

Itโ€™s Youths Oโ€™clock in Ifako Ijaiy, And The Cap Perfectly Fits Hon. Temitope Akinyemi

By Arthur Richard

In Ifako Ijaiye, the political time zone has shifted. The old guard still keeps its calendar, but the streets are running on a new hour, โ€œYouths Oโ€™clock.โ€ Itโ€™s not just a slogan. Itโ€™s a generational change, demand for access, accountability, and audacity. And in every junction from Ogba to Iju-Ishaga, Fagba to Ijaiye, one name keeps ringing in people's minds, pop in up in every street group discussion, WhatsApp statuses, and street-corner debates: Hon. Temitope Akinyemi. The cap, they say, fits him perfectly.

The moment has arrived. The Ifako Ijaiye is saying,, โ€œMek Temitope Akinyemi Go For Us This Time. We Want To Check Something.โ€

Temitope Akinyemi isnโ€™t a stranger to Ifako Ijaiyeโ€™s political terrain. He's a grassroots mobilizer, youth advocate, and community development strategist, he has spent years doing the unglamorous work, ward meetings in the rain, school renovations without ribbon-cutting, and cameras on.

Known simply as โ€œTemitope Akinyemโ€ to market women and artisans, his resumรฉ reads like a field report: Youth leader, party stalwart, and convener of multiple empowerment outreaches. He didnโ€™t arrive by helicopter. He walked every street in Ifako Ijaiye in the time of need without discrimination of religion, tribe, or political affiliation.

Mek Temitope Akinyemi Go For Us This Time Around. We Want To Check Something. The phrase started as youth banter at Fagba and went viral across Ifako Ijaiye wards.

Itโ€™s part challenge, part endorsement. Let Temitope Akinyemi represent us this time, We want to test what youth leadership can do.โ€

In Ifako Ijaiye where young people are about 75% of the population but less than 2% of elective offices, the slogan captured a mood. Itโ€™s not disrespect to elders. Itโ€™s a demand for succession, inclusion with substance.

Akinyemiโ€™s campaign blueprint reads like a youth manifesto: digitized primary healthcare centers, tech hubs in each ward to train our youths in coding, design, and digital marketing, transparent representation at Alausa and โ€œstreet-to-skillโ€ programs that will convert okada riders and mark
