Before you give your daughter a phone, educate her first.
Tell her clearly, Never send your nūūde or intīmate pictures to anyone, whether it is a man, woman, boyfriend, friend, or someone you trust.
Explain the consequences to her,
1. Once you send a picture, you can no longer control where it goes.
2. The person may save it, screenshot it, forward it or post it online.
3. Someone may use it to blackmail, threaten or manipulate you.
4. It can cause serious emotional distress, embarrassment and damage to relationships.
5. Even if someone promises, I won't show anyone, there is no guarantee that the picture will remain private.
Most importantly, teach her that nobody who genuinely cares about her should pressure her to prove love by sending nūūde pictures.
And tell her this too, if anyone ever pressures, threatens or blackmails her for pictures, she should come to you immediately. She should never be afraid to tell you.
Giving a child a phone without giving her the knowledge to use it safely can put her at riṣk.
