Contrary to popular belief, progress on the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway is actually very impressive.

As of today, construction is ongoing across four different sections of this massive project. But in this video, I’m focusing specifically on Sections 1 and 2, where construction has progressed to about 100 kilometres of concrete pavement, as you can see.

This footage was recorded on the 11th of August, 2026. And based on the progress made since then, there has been even more development than what you’re seeing in this video.

What you’re looking at here is extensive highway construction, including concrete reinforcement and pavement works along the alignment. From the Lagos end, construction has progressed for roughly 100 kilometres, connecting towards Ogun State and heading in the direction of Ondo State.

And the progress doesn’t stop there.

If you move into Ondo State, there’s a lot of work going on. Further down in Akwa Ibom, significant construction is also taking place, and the project is progressing in the Calabar axis as well.

So, this is just one part of what is happening across this massive coastal highway project.

In future videos, I’ll be visiting and documenting other sections so we can see, one after another, exactly what is happening across the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway.

So, if you want to follow the progress of this massive project, make sure you follow me now and stay tuned for the next update.

The Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway is taking shape in Ondo State, and some of the most important work happening here is actually below the road level.

These images show ongoing construction of drainage and cross-drainage structures designed to provide controlled passage for water beneath the highway.

While concrete pavement often gets the attention, drainage is one of the critical components that can determine how well a major highway performs and holds up over time.
