History was once again recorded on Monday, 5th January 2026, as the President General of Umulogho Town Union, Okeh Nze Kingsley Onukaogu (Duke Of Obowo), successfully hosted another remarkable edition of his widely celebrated annual women empowerment and palliative distribution programme. The event reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the welfare, dignity, and survival of women and vulnerable families within Umulogho Autonomous Community and its surrounding areas.
This year’s edition marked a remarkable phase in the history of the programme, as over 600 women benefitted, representing the one of the highest number of beneficiaries since its inception. The massive turnout reflected the growing relevance of the initiative and the trust the community continues to repose in the President General's consistency, sincerity, and compassion-driven leadership.
From the early hours of the day, women poured into the venue in their numbers, many moving from distant parts of Obowo and beyond. The atmosphere was filled with excitement, gratitude, and expectation, as beneficiaries eagerly awaited what has now become a lifeline boost for many households struggling with economic hardship.
The programme, which has evolved into an age-long annual tradition, once again delivered a wide range of essential items aimed at cushioning the effects of the prevailing economic challenges. Bags of rice, clothing materials, food items, and other household essentials were distributed in an orderly and transparent manner, ensuring that each beneficiary was adequately attended to.
