Former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has passed away in London at the age of 82. According to a statement released by his longtime spokesperson, Garba Shehu, Buhari died peacefully in a private clinic in the United Kingdom after a brief illness.
Buhari served as Nigeria's Head of State from 1983 to 1985 and later as a democratically elected President from 2015 to 2023. He was known for his anti-corruption agenda and efforts to fight insurgency in the northeast. During his presidency, he implemented key infrastructure projects and promoted agricultural development, but faced criticism for rising insecurity and economic challenges.
The family has announced that funeral arrangements will be made public in due course. Tributes have begun pouring in from political figures, international leaders, and citizens, reflecting on Buhari's legacy and impact on Nigeria's democratic journey
