Governor Fubara Intervenes as Rivers Council Workers Suspend Strike Over Rift With Emohua Chairman

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has resolved the dispute between the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) and the Chairman of Emohua LGA, Hon. Chidi Llyod, leading to the suspension of a statewide strike.

The strike, declared on Tuesday over the sack of some workers in Emohua, shut down all 23 council secretariats in the state.

After a meeting at Government House, Port Harcourt, Governor Fubara directed the parties to resolve their differences amicably. Following his intervention, NULGE State President, Comrade Clifford Paul, announced the suspension of the strike and ordered members to resume work.

Both the Local Government Service Commission and the Emohua Chairman commended the governor’s timely intervention and pledged to implement his directives to restore industrial harmony.
